Athletic Thursdays:
As The SuperHuman Trainer, I am not only a versatile practitioner of different modalities of training, but I am also diverse in a wide variety of athletics. Sports are specific to the realm of athletics, and there are many categories/subcategories that I engage in.
Though there are many sports that I have the skills & abilities to perform, I personally love baseball, basketball, boxing, jiu-jitsu, mixed-martial arts (MMA), Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and wrestling.
To be candid, I suck at golf, tennis, and any other sport in the water. I actually would like to try my hand at archery, curling and horse racing. For now, Wii Sports will do...
It is important to know that athletics and sports have different definitions. Peep them below:
Athletics - physical sports and games of any kind.
Sports - an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against one another.
So why am I bringing this up? Exercise and "working out" in the gym isn't the only way towards better health, fitness and wellness. Engaging in sports, especially team sports, is just as good, and in many ways, better than simply training in a gym setting. There are a chock full of benefits you get from sports, regardless of age or gender.
So think about doing a sport. Do your research. Explore your options. Talk with family and friends. Seek out a coach. You have many choices. Although we are amidst a pandemic, this is still possible. I will talk more about this on one of my future podcast episodes. Stay tuned.
