Soca is a lively Caribbean dance style from Trinidad and Tobago, known for its uplifting rhythms, grounded bounce, and full-body expression. It carries a celebratory energy, joyful, rhythmic, and deeply connected to community and music.
Diandra’s global dance classes reflect that same spirit. She toured North America and Europe for five years with the Trinity Irish Dance Company as a champion-level, world-ranked Irish Step dancer, later performing on Broadway, with The Joyce Theatre, and in Hollywood films.
Her work has since expanded into cultural dance forms from around the world, including West African and Bhangra, Brazilian Samba, Chicago House, Argentine Zapateado, and Afro-Caribbean traditions. She spent over a decade in West Africa and the Caribbean, training with the Sankofa Center for African Dance and Culture, choreographing for Carnival troupes and Soca artists, producing the “Long Legs Arts Fest,” and presenting her work The Cultural Dancer: An Awary Ambassador at the International Dance Conference in Barbados.
Alongside her dance practice, Diandra is a certified Pilates instructor, 500-hour yoga teacher, and climate change educator. Her memoir Irma Was Here reflects her experience surviving Hurricane Irma in 2017.
In this workshop, she brings together Afro-Caribbean rhythm and Soca-inspired movement in a way that invites freedom, connection, and joy through the body. 💃🌍
