Announcing is Interactive Metronome (IM) Certified Provider! This therapeutic modality was a huge inspiration for starting my private practice and I have been overjoyed with the results my patients with communication and cognitive deficits have been experiencing with IM! I am so excited to have the opportunity to present on Interactive Metronome with one of my patients this week at the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii's support group. Interactive Metronome is the therapeutic modality that inspired me to start my private practice and I have been seeing some remarkable real-life gains in communication and cognition with my patients over the last 6 months! If you know someone who has been struggling with persistent changes in communication or cognition from a stroke, traumatic brain injury/concussion, or other acquired neurological issue, I would be honored if you invited them to this presentation!

I’ve been getting connected with this support group for Brain Injury survivors and they are doing good work to provide community and support for people living with acquired brain injuries. Today is Concussion Awareness Day! To all those out there who had a concussion and thought they would “be back to normal” after a few days and are still feeling the effects weeks, months, and years later, I see you and you are not alone!

I’d like to highlight .rheaume today. She is a concussion/TBI survivor and creates REALLY helpful content for survivors who are trying to learn how adjust, advocate and hold hope for their new normal. If this is you or you are trying to support someone with a concussion, I HIGHLY recommend you follow her ❤️

I had such a blast at the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii support group today! If you are O’ahu, are a brain injury survivor (stroke, traumatic injury, concussion, brain tumor, etc) and are looking for some amazing community to cheer you on in life, get in touch with these folks. It’s still National Aphasia Awareness Month! Aphasia is a communication disorder that affects a person’s ability to process language.

I’ve cared for countless people with aphasia over the years and being a part of their journey have made such a difference in my life. Being able to communicate and connect is essential and I love helping restore people’s ability to do that.

And with that, I’d like to introduce you to my favorite person with aphasia on island…Aunty Mililani! She embodies aloha, faith and joy unlike anyone I know! It’s been an incredible journey to get to see all the ways she communicates with limited words and such fun to see more and more words restored to her in the years I have known her and can’t wait to hear the words to come. I love you Aunty!!!
