The amount of Aloha and support throughout this process has been unexpected and insurmountable. I’ve had pelvic surgery with post op complications and it has really done a number on my physical + mental health. I would say I am generally strong and optimistic in life, but this is a reminder to slow down, to prioritize. It has highlighted all the things I take for granted on a daily basis, like peeing independently (sorry tmi), seeing my kids everyday, or yelling at them. 😅 Seeing my team in person, traveling, fighting the fight and doing the work I was called to do on this earth with an able body. Mahalo nui to my amazing and grounded EA, who is also the embodiment of peace and calm that I need right now. Thank you Keala and Mai, for hand making this beautiful piece, with lava rock as the strong foundation. I love and miss you all. 🥹 Can’t wait to see you irl after healing! kealamason ilysm!✨✨❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Everyone debates if community care works.

I don’t.

I’ve seen kids go from suicidal…
to leading on national stages.

Met these kids a few yrs back- struggling to stay clean, to get up, to survive.

G O A T E D jasper ho myles 🐐 Today, celebrate you. There are no words, but know that you have my whole heart and i wish i could be there to cheer you on. Can’t wait to see all the lives you impact.

Hawaiʻi’s youth deserve a mental health system that meets them with care, speed, and real support.

We know what our kids need. ACCESS. Early connection, strong follow-up, community support, and access before a young person falls through the cracks.

What gives me hope is that across Hawaiʻi, there are people showing up EVERYDAY for our youth with compassion, skill, and deep commitment. Families care. Communities care. Providers care. And when we come together with urgency and heart, change is possible.

Our keiki deserve to feel seen, supported, and safe IN REAL LIFE! They deserve a system that responds before crisis becomes tragedy. Remember it only takes ONE supportive adult to decrease su***de risk by 40%‼️ Only 1❗️Check on a teen you know today.🤙🏽❤️🌈🌺🌊☀️🐠

There is hope. There are solutions. And our youth are always worth fighting for.

I’ve been a little quiet. resting. reflecting. recovering.🙏🏽🤍

Post-op has been more vulnerable than I expected. I’m usually the one taking care of others, so being the one needing care, slowing down, and letting people show up for me has been humbling.

Thank you, + Mahalo from the bottom of my heart for the texts, calls, emails, flowers, prayers, and support. I’ve felt so loved.🥹

Thank you to my goated (🤣i just learned that word)care team Dr. M, Dr. A, Nurse Gerald, Nurse Sky, Nurse Joe, Dr. Iwash*ta, and ALL THE RESIDENTS 🙌🔥for your genuine compassion. This experience is yet another reminder of how HEALING we as healthcare professionals can be.

Thank you to my ohana and loyal team for holding me down while I recover.

I’ll be recovering through May 11. For anything urgent, please contact my EA, Keala Mason at keala@spilltheteacafe.org or text (808) 255-3999

Healing mind, body, and spirit, and I’ll be back stronger than ever. Love you my babies!

Forty Three.🎂🤍

The last three years changed me more than the first forty.

I built something I didn’t know how to build.
I raised humans while I was still raising myself.
I broke down, rebuilt, and learned to trust the process.

I am deeply grateful for every person who showed up, believed, donated, referred, encouraged, and stayed. This work exists because of community.

And to my kids, and my ohana, thank you for being my why, my mirror, and my proof that growth is real.

Here’s to what comes next.
With love,
🤍Haylin

2025 was NOT this highlight reel—it was one of the hardest years of my life. And still, rain or shine, we showed up and kept building.

Here’s to 2026 🥂 Growth. Gratitude. Momentum.

The best isn’t behind us, it’s being built, brick by brick.✨ Thank you to my family, my team, and every physician, med student, and young person who trusted us with their growth this year. Your courage fuels us to dream bigger.❤️🥳Keep going. Keep fighting. We all make resolutions to change ourselves. Instead, make a resolution to BE MORE of YOURSELF this year. 👑🎉🔥

The best gift you can give your child is healing yourself….People care about issues that are close to home, that impact people they love. Everyone has a different perspective based on their own lived experience. You might have the privilege of not caring about this issue. And that’s okay. But today, we remember all the lives lost- many to su***de. The research is clear that trans people are not inherently placed at higher risk due to their identity, but rather due to the discrimination they face at home, school, church, community. It only takes 1 supportive adult to decrease the su***de risk by 40% in youth. LEARN WITH LOVE Mahalo

The knowledge will come. It always does. But this moment in your training is about something deeper: becoming the kind of clinician people trust with their lives. Slow down enough to be present with patients and with each other. Remember that every person you meet is carrying a story that deserves to be seen, not rushed.

You will witness the full spectrum of the human experience: grief, awe, guilt, joy, compassion fatigue, moral distress, connection, and everything in between. Don’t run from these emotions. Name them. Feel them. Let them teach you. This is how wisdom is formed.

Pls remember — you are never walking this path alone. Even when the journey feels narrow or overwhelming, your JABSOM community is here to support you, steady you, and walk alongside you.❤️🧠

You are becoming someone extraordinary. Keep going!

MS1s:
This year, build the foundation of who you want to be as a physician— focus on curiosity, compassion, and learning how your brain, body, and values respond under pressure.

MS2s:
As Step prep approaches, ground yourself in disciplined routines, emotional regulation, and remembering that you are here to pass this test. Do what you came here to do. But remember, your worth is bigger than any score.

MS3s:
During clinical rotations, let presence, humility, and genuine connection guide you — patients will teach you more than textbooks ever could.

MS4s:
In interviews, remember you are evaluating programs just as much as they are evaluating you — choose three strengths that define you and weave them confidently into every answer. Know your value proposition.
