It’s Fall season. Brace yourselves! 🍂 👻🍁🩼
The risk of falls occur with increased age. More than 1 in 4 adults over the age of 65 experience fall injuries annually. Here are some precautions to practice to help prevent it!
- Fall proof your homes by adding hand rails, keeping areas clean and tidy, and ensuring rugs and carpets are secured firmly to the ground.
- Avoid slippery areas, always walk with caution.
- Stand up slowly. Rising quickly may cause a decrease in blood pressure and in result, causes loss of balance.
- Stay up to date with eye and hearing tests. Changes in either increases the risk for falls.
- Utilize assistive devices.
- Wear shoes that support your feet such as rubber soled, low heeled shoes or nonskid socks.
- Always notify your P*P when a fall occurs to allow the Dr. to make appropriate assessments and plan of care.
The MIS family wishes you a safe and spooky fall season🎃
