Through online classes, in-person instruction and hands-on clinical training, they’re preparing for a rewarding career where they can truly make a difference in our community.

✨ Meet Alysha Ladiero ✨

Alysha’s career journey in healthcare began with a spark of inspiration after a chance encounter with a nurse practitioner during uncertain times. That spark grew into a passion for teaching and empowering future caregivers. From nurse aide to nurse, and now Clinical Education Program Manager and lead instructor for our Nurse Aide Program, Alysha is helping students unlock their potential and achieve their goals.

Her innovative approach and dedication make her an invaluable part of AHI. Now, she’s paying it forward – impacting students just like that nurse practitioner impacted her years ago.

We recently celebrated an exciting milestone for the Academy for Healthcare Innovation – our first Nurse Aide Program graduates!

Seven dedicated students successfully completed the 8-week Nurse Aide Program, which combines online learning, in-person classes and hands-on clinical training.

Nurse Aide Program Lead Instructor Alysha Ladiero shared:
“It’s been an honor to train this next generation. For me, it’s more than being a nurse – it’s about making sure our community is cared for and we're preparing the next generation.️"

Congratulations to our graduates! With tuition assistance from local healthcare organizations and a direct pathway to employment, these future healthcare professionals are ready to make a difference.

Special thanks to the Leeward YMCA for their support as our Nurse Aide program's home base, helping us train the next generation of caregivers for our community.

In a recent interview, Interim Executive Director Bridget Lai shares how AHI is building a pipeline of students to fill in-demand healthcare positions across the state, such as medical assistants, nurse aides, surgical instrument processing technicians and surgical technologists.

From hands-on training to career placement support, AHI is opening doors for the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Meet Bridget Lai, MEd, BSN, RN, interim executive director of the Academy for Healthcare Innovation (AHI). Bridget brings a wealth of experience in nursing and healthcare education to this role, along with a deep commitment to academic excellence and workforce development. She began her career as a labor and delivery nurse at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, where she discovered a passion for patient care and mentoring. That passion led her into nursing education, most recently serving as the associate director of clinical education at Hawaii Pacific Health.

At AHI, Bridget leads a dedicated team of faculty and staff focused on preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to meet the evolving needs of our communities.

We're excited to welcome our first students on June 30, and grateful for the vision and energy Bridget brings as we expand access to healthcare career pathways in Hawaii.

AHI offers hands-on certificate programs designed for adults and recent high school graduates who want to enter the healthcare field without committing to a traditional four-year degree.

Programs range from 8 to 40 weeks for the following healthcare positions:
• Medical Assistant
• Nurse Aide
• Surgical Instrument Processing Technician
• Surgical Technologist
