Mental Training refers to the systematic and consistent practice of mental or psychological skills to enhance athletic performance, increase enjoyment, or to achieve greater sport and physical activity self-satisfaction. Biofeedback or biological feedback help athletes become aware of their physiological responses to challenging situations. Equipped with this knowledge, athletes can manage the responses to maximize performance.

My Ph.D. research runs throughout the year.
If you did not participate in group one, there is still time to participate in other groups.
The format is simple;
1. You surf, and I collect your data
2. You are randomly assigned to one of the two intervention groups and commit to six weekly mental training/intervention sessions
3. You go surf again, and I collect your data
4. During the winter, I will collect your data again, depending on your availability

During the first session, I will collect information about you and a specific goal you want to achieve. I will use this information to develop a plan that will be shared with you. Then, together, we will decide on the specific number of sessions to help you achieve your goals.

The "Pathways to High Performance" is a self-paced mental training program developed for those who are curious about athletes' mental preparation but do not want to commit to 6 to 10 sessions. Still, you will have three online short sessions for extra help to implement the mental skills in your sport training.

The main concerns of athletes who come to my office are:
1.The coach or a family member already recommended an area to work on: confidence, calming the nerves, attention control, and so on.
2.The athlete is frustrated because he/she is performing only a fraction of his/her potential.
3.The athlete is curious and wants to learn more about mental training and how it can improve his/her performance.
4.Sometimes the athlete is already performing at their best and just wants to maintain high levels of performance.

The Mental Pathways to High Performance is an online self-paced mental training program. It is better for athletes who were never introduced to mental training and want to work on their own. The mental training package has five fundamental mental skills to be introduced over six to eight weeks, and the athlete will also be able to schedule three 30-minute online sessions for some extra help implementing the skills.
