It’s always fulfilling planting downtown Bennington. I can’t wait to see how everything fills out!
WELCOME BACK TO MAIN STREET, SWEET WILLIAM
It's Bennington in Bloom time and Kaitlyn Petitt and her crew from Sweet William Garden Design of Hoosick Falls are planting pretty flowers up and down Main Street Bennington.
What a perfect day to beautify Main Street.
They were supposed to start last week but Kaitlyn said the 90 degree heat would have wrecked the the flowers.
A week later, right now, it's 71 and breezy and perfect and Kaitlyn and Dylan and Keenan are beautifying Main Street with coleus and million bells and sunny salmon and other shrubs.
Last year we had a nice Facebook chat with the owner of Sweet William Garden Design who sent us this bio ...
"My name is Kaitlyn Petitt, MAU class of ‘98. I played field hockey and was involved in a number of clubs. My dad built a greenhouse when I was ten and was an avid gardener. My love for plants started then. I loved the process and the patience it took to see your efforts come to fruition. I went away to college and earned a BS in Biology. My love for the outdoors and horticulture brought me to Clear Brook Farm my junior year of college where I worked and learned further about plants. After several years, and a creative itch I decided to try my hand in garden design and started my business. Sweet William is not only a flower but a name I hold dear to my heart. Both my maternal and paternal grandfather and my godfather are named William. They have all passed but I hope to honor them through my work. I always thought I would land in the medical field, but flowers stole my heart."
This is Dylan's and Keenen's first year working at Sweet William Garden Design.
"I learn a lot from her," Keenen said. He graduated Cambridge Central in 2018. "Kate is very very smart. She's been teaching us about different kinds of flowers."
Bennington in Bloom is paid through the general fund.
