After the holidays, many people feel drained — not energized. And that’s normal.

Social energy, family dynamics, travel, grief, overstimulation, and disrupted routines can take a toll on your mind and body.

If you’re feeling tired, numb, overwhelmed, or emotionally flat right now, nothing is “wrong” with you.

You’re not behind.
Your body may just need recovery.

You’re allowed to slow down, rest, and quiet the expectations for a moment.

Resetting is still progress. 💛

A gentle reminder for parents this holiday season:

Your children don’t need every activity, every gift, or a picture-perfect celebration. They need a parent who feels safe, calm, and emotionally present.

It’s okay if:
• the house isn’t decorated perfectly
• gifts are simple this year
• you need quiet time or breaks
• the schedule is scaled back
• traditions look different than before

You don’t have to perform joy to create meaningful memories.
Kids remember how home felt far more than how it looked.

Rested, regulated parents raise rested, regulated kids. 💛

When the body doesn’t feel safe, it responds in the best way it knows how. This is called a trauma response, and it’s not a choice — it’s protection.

You may notice yourself:
🟥 Fight: arguing, defending, getting loud, needing control
🟦 Flight: shutting down conversations, leaving early, overworking, staying busy
🟨 Freeze: going blank, dissociating, feeling stuck, not knowing what to do
🟩 Fawn: people-pleasing, smoothing conflict, prioritizing others to stay safe

These responses helped you survive environments where you didn’t feel safe, supported, or understood.

They are not your personality — they are adaptations.

Healing isn’t forcing yourself to “stop reacting.”
It’s learning how to feel safe in your body again. 💛

Trauma isn’t only the event — it’s the impact left on your body, your nervous system, and your sense of safety.

Two people can go through the same situation and have completely different responses. Why?

Because trauma isn’t about “how bad it was.”
It’s about how overwhelmed, unprotected, or alone your body felt during it.

Trauma can come from:
• Abuse or violence
• Emotional neglect
• Unpredictable caregiving
• Discrimination or oppression
• Betrayal, heartbreak, or abandonment
• Medical or birth experiences
• Unsafe relationships, friendships, or workplaces

Trauma is not weakness — it’s your mind and body trying to survive an experience that felt like too much, without enough support.

Healing isn’t “getting over it.”
Healing is helping your body feel safe again. 💛

Meet Meoshia Abrams, LICSW, a therapist here at Inspire Counseling who supports women, couples, and youth athletes navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, performance pressure, and life transitions.

Meoshia’s style is warm, grounding, and client-centered. She creates a space where clients can slow down, feel seen without judgment, and explore both emotional wellness and authentic identity.

In her work with women, Meoshia helps clients move out of survival mode, break patterns rooted in trauma, and reconnect with their personal needs and values.

With couples, she focuses on communication, conflict resolution, emotional safety, and rebuilding connection—not perfection, but partnership.

In her work with youth athletes, she helps students manage performance anxiety, mental pressure, identity outside of sports, and the emotional side of competitive environments.

If you’re looking for a therapist who brings compassion, authenticity, and evidence-based care to every session, Meoshia may be a wonderful fit.

Now accepting new clients. 💛

Private pay, Blue Cross Blue Shield, All Kids, & Medicare accepted.

Today is Human Rights Day — a reminder that every person deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to heal. 🌍

At Inspire Counseling, we believe mental health care is a human right.
Everyone deserves access to compassionate, affirming, trauma-informed therapy — no exceptions, no judgments.

We stand for justice, inclusivity, and healing for all bodies, identities, experiences, and minds.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked, unheard, or dismissed — you belong here.

Not everyone loves a full holiday calendar.

For some people, gatherings drain more energy than they give — and that doesn’t mean you’re rude or anti-social.

You may be:
• Introverted
• Overstimulated
• Emotionally tired
• Navigating grief or burnout
• Managing social anxiety

You’re allowed to:
• Step outside
• Attend for a shorter time
• Say no to plans
• Protect your energy

Your nervous system matters. Your needs matter.
If you’re struggling to balance connection with capacity, therapy can help you explore boundaries without guilt. 💛

We know December can be a lot—busy schedules, complicated family dynamics, reminders of people you miss, and expectations that don’t always fit the season you’re in.

At Inspire Counseling, our focus this month is simple: take care of your capacity.

Rest when you need to. Say no when it’s honest. Let joy show up in small moments.

If this season feels heavier than you expected, you don’t have to hold it all by yourself.

We’re here when you’re ready. 💛

This Thanksgiving, your peace and safety are what matter most to us at Inspire Counseling. 💛

We know that holidays can bring up complex emotions or challenging family dynamics. It’s okay if you're not feeling universally "grateful" right now, or if you need to prioritize your well-being over social expectations.

We believe that true healing happens where you feel safe and seen. This week, we want to gently remind you that:

- Gratitude and grief can coexist. You can hold both joy and pain at the same time.

- Boundaries are a vital form of self-care. It's okay to say "no" or step away to protect your peace.

- Your feelings are always valid. There is no "right" way to navigate this season.

Instead of focusing only on obligations, we encourage a moment of reflection on resilience and the power of connection. We are grateful for the deep support systems that remind us we are not alone.

If the holiday season feels heavy, please know that our collaborative team of clinicians is here to offer quality, trauma-informed support. We combine evidence-based approaches with heartfelt connection, ensuring every client feels seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

Cultivate Calm: Your 5-Step Guide to Mindful Living

In a world that constantly demands your attention, creating a space for inner peace is not just a luxury—it’s an essential part of your journey toward wholeness and wellness.

At Inspire Counseling, we believe healing happens where you feel safe and seen. We use evidence-based approaches combined with cultural competence and heartfelt connection to help you recenter.

Use this simple, powerful practice to bring mindfulness into your day:

Observe: Notice your surroundings or sensations without judgment.

Feel: Acknowledge the emotions that arise, giving them space to exist.

Breathe: Take slow, deep breaths to anchor yourself in the present moment.

Accept: Embrace your current reality with an open heart.
Absorb: Internalize the calm and clarity you’ve created.

Remember, this is more than just a quick fix; it's a movement toward integrity, empathy, and a more vibrant you.

Ready to start your path to inner peace and growth? Learn more about our collaborative team of clinicians and our holistic approach to therapy at Inspire Counseling's Website or book a consultation via our contact page.
