This Week's "On The Bench" Okay, so you're all sitting home during the snowstorm with nothing to do. Now's a perfect time to take out those guitars and give 'em a little love. Oil your fingerboards to stop them from cracking! Wouldn't it be a shame for this brand new beautiful Inverness Green Custom Shop guitar to crack? That's why I'm giving the rosewood fingerboard a good oiling. While you're at it, spray some polish on those beautiful guitars you own! I notice that hardly any of you polish your guitars. Polishing not only protects the finish from sweat, but it also protects the hardware. A good coat of polish can stop gold from wearing off so quickly. This Weeks "On The Bench" This 2003 Fender USA Precision bass came in with high action and lots of buzzing. The neck had a hump and a dip and a ski jump up at the end on the body. This is a common problem with older Fender basses because not only are the necks made from maple (which is very unstable wood) but basses have around 200 lbs. of tension on the neck when tuned up. Guitars usually range between 130 and 150 lbs of tension. I will explain how I went about saving this bass in my comments on the photos. Thank you for reading.
