Thank you to Senator Ron Latz for taking the time to meet with us and discussing the unique and often invisible needs of suburban youth experiencing homelessness.
In our West Metro communities, many young people and families are not unsheltered โ they are couch-hopping, doubled-up, or on the brink of losing housing. Without the right supports, these situations can quickly escalate into unsheltered homelessness.
Flexible state funding like Local Homeless Prevention Aid and the Homeless Youth Act is critical to ensuring that all youth and families have access to safe and stable housing.
These investments allow Move Forward to provide:
โจ Outreach services that connect youth to resources
โจ A welcoming drop-in center for support and basic needs
โจ Our scattered-site Transitional Living Program that helps youth build independence
โจ Prevention through our Schools-to-Housing program, helping families stabilize before homelessness occurs
When we invest in prevention and youth-centered solutions, we are not only addressing todayโs housing instability โ we are helping to break the cycle of homelessness for the future.
