There are still seats available for Thursday's 7 pm Dementia Friends Information Session at the HCA. People can register by calling the Hopkinton Senior Center at 508-497-9730.
Many of you have been to a Dementia Friends Information Session. You understand how valuable attending the session can be to somebody who has a family member, friend, colleague, or loved one who is living with some type of cognitive impairment.
If you haven't attended a Dementia Friends Information Session, here's some of the feedback I've received from people who have attended.
They learned about the different types of dementia and the impact of each type on a person.
They understood that while a person living with dementia may not be able to do what they did before, they can still enjoy life and appreciate the love and caring from people around them.
They became more aware of the needs of people who are living with dementia and learned how to communicate with and relate to them better.
They took home lots of useful information from the Alzheimer's Association, the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, a customized list of valuable websites, and a reading list for kids, teens, adults, people living with dementia, and caregivers.
Most of all, they left knowing that they aren't alone on their journey and where to go to get the support and help they need.
Thank you for helping to make Hopkinton an Age-Friendly and Dementia-Friendly Community!
