In 2020, I expanded my professional portfolio by completing "The Science of Nutrition Certification." This credential focused primarily on Flexible Dieting, which involves tracking macronutrients and creating personalized daily intake plans based on factors such as dieting history, activity level, age, and objectives. Having utilized flexible dieting for years, I decided to further my education in this area during the pandemic. Now, over five years later, I regretfully acknowledge that my location hinders my ability to effectively promote this approach. While many of my industry peers have successfully integrated flexible dieting into their clients' regimens, my own clients have been hesitant to adopt this method. I have consulted with potential clients from other states who have reported paying up to $200 per month for weekly macro tracking, without receiving any additional training. Despite offering similar services at a significantly lower cost (under $200 per year), I have been met with disinterest. Many individuals request meal plans but fail to adhere to them, making flexible dieting an ideal solution. This approach not only educates individuals about their dietary habits and portion control but also enables them to make informed choices when dining out. By utilizing flexible dieting, individuals can develop a lifelong understanding of nutrition and intuitive eating habits. Ultimately, I believe that the primary obstacle to adopting flexible dieting is a lack of accountability. Many individuals are unwilling to assume responsibility for their dietary choices or view tracking macros as an undue burden, despite the numerous benefits it provides.
