Both women and men who have a heart attack often have chest pain. However, women are more likely to experience these more subtle symptoms and they may not recognize them as symptoms of a heart attack. Call 911 if you have any symptoms of a heart attack. Early treatment can limit damage to your heart and can save your life.

πŸ’œ Sepsis Survivor Week πŸ’œ

This week, we recognize the strength of sepsis survivors and raise awareness about a condition that affects millions of people worldwide each year.

Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to infection and can progress rapidly. Early recognition and immediate treatment are critical β€” and every minute matters.

At The Medical Center at Caverna, our team is dedicated to the quick identification and aggressive treatment of sepsis. Through evidence-based protocols, rapid response measures, and continuous staff education, we work to ensure our patients receive timely antibiotics, fluid resuscitation, lab testing, and close monitoring without delay.

Our emergency department and inpatient teams collaborate seamlessly to recognize the early warning signs of sepsis and act swiftly. From triage to treatment, our goal is simple: save lives through early intervention and exceptional care.

During Sepsis Survivor Week, we honor those who have fought and survived sepsis, remember those we have lost, and recommit ourselves to raising awareness in our community.

⚠️ Know the signs of sepsis:
β€’ Fever or very low temperature
β€’ Rapid heart rate
β€’ Rapid breathing
β€’ Confusion or disorientation
β€’ Extreme pain or discomfort

If you suspect sepsis, seek medical care immediately.

At The Medical Center at Caverna, we stand ready β€” 24/7 β€” to provide compassionate, life-saving care when it matters most.

More than 600,000 people nationwide die from heart disease each year, and is one of the leading causes of death in the state of Kentucky, according to the CDC.

Increasing your physical activity can help prevent and manage heart disease. Getting at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 3 times per week can put you at a lower risk for heart disease, lower blood pressure and improve your cholesterol levels.

πŸ’™ Mission Moments Spotlight πŸ’™
At The Medical Center at Caverna, our mission comes to life through the people who serve others with heart, compassion, and teamwork every single day.
Today, we’re proud to recognize a very special husband and wife duo who both received Mission Moments for going above and beyond to help others. Each was recognized separately for their individual acts of kindness, dedication, and willingness to step up when it mattered most β€” a true reflection of our mission in action.
It’s inspiring to see not only a partnership at home, but two professionals who bring that same commitment, compassion, and service into our workplace. Congratulations to this incredible couple, and thank you for making a difference for your coworkers, patients, and community every day. 🌟

πŸ‘‰ Women are less likely to receive bystander CPR due to fear, myths and misconceptions. We must do more to save women's lives.

βœ… Be ready to perform Hands-Only CPR whenever you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, even if they are a woman. There are just two steps:

πŸ“² 1. Call 911.
❀️ 2. Push hard and fast on the center of the chest at a rate of 100-120 compressions per-minute until help arrives.
