The RESTART® Program offers a simple yet powerful way to give your body a true break from sugar and processed foods. With a 3-week sugar detox built right in, the program focuses on how to use REAL FOOD to boost your energy, reduce inflammation and get rid of sugar and carb cravings. YES!!!!! EAT REAL FOOD!!

I read the entire website yesterday just hours after it was revealed and it is a brilliant start. As a functional nutritional therapy practitioner I’ve been on my soap box about this for years. For my clients I’d add a deeper level of nutritional density, but this, THIS, is an amazing beginning.

Real food has saved my life. On several occasions I’ve been in predicaments where I could have and should have died or worse. Because my overall health status was good I pulled through. Being proactive about your health is important. I started my health journey, for real, in 2002; My annual New Years Resolution. This time it actually stuck. So much has happened since then and I’ve been on a continual journey of discovery, learning about how the body works, and what it takes to maintain it. It’s absolutely fascinating. To quote my friend, Melissa Larsen, “We are everyday miracles.”

I had to face the Real Food challenge head on when I learned what processed foods were doing to me and if I had kept doing what I’d always done, I literally wouldn’t be alive today. If I was, I certainly would not be loving my life and living it in the capacity that I do. Life isn’t perfect, but it’s perfectly imperfect.

It was a challenge to learn how to choose foods and to actually cook real food in a healthy way. To not just embellish something that came from a box or was frozen. To not just order pizza, or run through a drive thru when my time is short or I just didn’t feel like cooking. Learning how to plan ahead, batch cook, have easy alternatives, or having plenty of leftovers that made work weeks easier really helps.

Cooking actually became fun. It can be time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. There are tips and tricks I’ve learned in the last 23 years that are really helpful.

I hope all of you reading this make small changes. Baby Steps if necessary. To quote myself, “Even baby steps in the right direction will get you to your destination.” If you have read this far, then I touched you. I’ve at least planted the seed to help you start your journey. I’ve had many mentors and so much support along the way. I am grateful for all of you. I wouldn’t be here today without you.
