Life is so short, make today your best day ever.

The last 5 years have been pretty busy. Its time for me to take a break. I won’t be accepting any new patients or consults for the foreseeable future. I’m also taking a break from social media until after the new year. Best way to find me is hanging with the kitties or by text.

Today is a Tuesday like any other. People will go about their day trying to live their best life. And, no matter what happens in the political world, that will not change. We will get up every day and try to live our best life.

Promise yourself to priorotize connection and community. Do not let who someone chose differently than you at the polls become your enemy. They are not.

Do not let social media kooks tell you the world is ending and you need to hate anyone who did not vote your way. It is a priviledge to be able to vote as you believe.

It is in our differences that we make a beautiful eclectic world. It is in our differences that change is created. It is in our differences that we bloom. It is Gods great design that we use our love to come together and share our differences.

I have a story to share. It’s a true story. As crazy as it sounds.

Around 15 years ago my dear husband and I purchased a home. We had only been there a few weeks when I heard a loud crash at the house to the left of ours. I looked thru the trees and saw a car had run into a large tree and a woman was slumped over the wheel. I called 911 as I scrambled thru the dense underbrush and opened her car door not sure if she was conscious. I said “Hello! Are you okay?…I’m your neighbor and I’m her to help.” She threw her head back and all most screaming, said “What’s your name? What’s your name?”I responded with “Sharron, I’m a doctor and I can help you” She again screamed “What’s your last name!!!?”. So i told her. She let her head fall back, closed her eyes and said “I just had to make sure you weren’t a George.” While I examined her for injuries, I asked if I could call anyone for her. She said yes, her daughter. When. I explained why I was calling her daughter also wanted to know my last name. When I told her I was the neighbor. I could not believe it. Why was this such a big deal? I was there to save her dang life. After learning I was not a “George” she quickly hung up and was on her way.

Not long after, the ambulance took her away. It was a few days later her daughter came over to explain the situation. It seems 20 years before there had been a dispute. (I don’t know what the dispute was) It created a divide so deep that when an emergency occurred TWENTY YEARS later the most important thing was to not let someone related to the original family involved in that dispute save your life. Twenty years.

Knowing both families, seeing that they were all really good people, it was even sadder that they had been angry for so long. But now, I see how EASY it would be to get so upset with someone that you would cut them out of your life, speak against them and even refuse to let them help during an emergency.

We went on to become dear friends with the neighbor and her family, and when EmmaJean passed on we were truly sad.

I see the same crazy divide happening between people who prefer different candidates. Do I have a preference? YES! But, regardless of who wins, my life will focus on living my best life each and every day. I will continue to love my family (I know they voted opposite to me) I will continue to love my neighbors (I won’t ask who they voted for) and my community (betcha at least 1/2 voted differently).
