Tip #3 for Healthy Holidays is Maintain!
Maintaining some of your normal routine during the holidays may seem odd, but can help you enjoy the holiday season.
Routine self-maintenance, like getting plenty of sleep, is important to your overall health and social gatherings, family get-togethers, and generally preparing for the holidays can be exhausting. In addition, eating regularly (and not just those delicious treats) is key to your healthy routine.
Even though the holidays are notorious for ruining healthy eating habits, adding in your favorite fruit or veggie snack can help you from snacking on too many sweets or eating too much at that catered holiday party.
Additionally, getting the family out on a snowshoe or cross-country ski or even a walk around the neighborhood will get everyone out of the house for a little exercise. And if you regularly work-out or attend an exercise class, don’t skip them!
And finally, managing and maintaining your holiday expectations can help not only you, but your family and friends as well. Each year brings something different and enjoying each year as it is and being grateful for the present can help you enjoy this wonderful time of year.
