Our Goals/Objectives
To protect and preserve the integrity of Houghton Lake's native flora (plants) and fauna (animals) through monitoring of the lake and the Muskegon River Watershed; to promote responsible use and cooperation between the fishery and the tourist industry to enhance the local economy and the enjoyment of the community; to be proactive in educating the public about responsible use of the resources provided by Houghton Lake and the surrounding watershed; to provide support for various community projects relating to the health and ecology of Houghton Lake and the watershed.

🎣 The Houghton Lake Lake Association was proud to join the DNR Fisheries team (Bob, Morgan, and Terra) for a recent fish survey on Houghton Lake!

We saw some great results, netting over 125 Walleye across the West and East sides of the lake! Sizes ranged from 5 inches up to a healthy 19 inches. We also documented Bluegill, Bass, a big Carp, White Suckers, and lots of minnows near the Cut River.

A huge thank you to the DNR team for their hard work shocking, netting, and gathering vital information on our Walleye population! And special shoutout to Bob for keeping the crew motivated with his humor and 27+ years of fish wisdom!

This valuable data helps us understand and protect our lake's ecosystem. Thank you for your service!

We want to thank all who attended out Paint and Sip Event at Buccilli's Pizza! We had a full house and sold every ticket. That meant we were so successful we our organization could pay it forward and shar some of what we raised with another cause.

We donated $60 to the BDS Fall ORVFun Fun & Pet Food Drive happening today at Back Door Sally raiing money and collecting supplies for Roscommon County Animal Shelter and local rescues. See flyer for more info& the picture of our president Jim & his dog Seger adopted in April from the shelter.
