Today, on World Autism Day, we reflect with joy and deep appreciation for the children we support.

Each child on the autism spectrum brings their own unique spark and when we follow their lead, we witness their strengths.

We also acknowledge that every family’s journey is unique, with both joyful moments and challenges. We honor the full spectrum of experiences, from moments of connection to the difficulties families face.

Every child, no matter where they are, deserves acceptance and love.

Let’s continue to uplift each child’s authentic journey because when we do, we all grow 💙

Grateful for two inspiring days at The Many Faces of Play Therapy training with Paris Goodyear-Brown Louisiana Association for Play Therapy

So many hands-on ideas for supporting healing, attachment, and regulation through play. I’m excited to bring this learning back to my work ❤️‍🩹

Also thankful for the connections made along the way, especially grateful for my partner Allison Knight 🫶🏻

It reminded me how meaningful these learning spaces are for both students and clinicians ❤️

Great first day at the Louisiana Association for Play Therapy Conference ❤️

Grateful to be learning new play therapy tools to support children with big feelings and honored to be recognized as a 2026 LAPT grant recipient. I’m excited to use this opportunity to bring more play therapy trainings and resources to our Houma community.

And to top it off, I even won the early bird raffle from Brandy’s Bag of Air! 🎉

So excited to share that I’ve been selected as the 2026 LAPT Grant Recipient! 🎉

I’ll be using this grant to bring more play therapy training opportunities to Houma, helping expand high quality, specialized care for children in our area.

When we strengthen therapists, we strengthen families.

Celebrating International Play Therapy Week 💛 and two years as a Registered Play Therapist 🎉

I pursued advanced training because play is powerful and children deserve care that is thoughtful, intentional, and grounded in expertise. Understanding play allows me to better support children’s growth and healing.

So thankful for this work and the children I get to walk alongside 💛

✨ Feeling Refreshed and Reignited! ✨

Just wrapped up the The Retreat Season workshop in Naxos, Greece, and I’m returning home with a renewed sense of passion, purpose, and clarity.

Being surrounded by such inspiring women leaders who have built incredible group practices and generously shared their wisdom was truly transformative. 💫

It was such a gift to be served, cared for, and poured into while also learning new ways to expand my business and plan boldly for the future.

A huge thank you to Retreat Season for creating such a meaningful and rejuvenating experience. 🌸

✨ Out of the Office for Training ✨

Hughes Counseling Services will be out of the office September 26 – October 5, 2025 while I attend a professional conference.

I’m looking forward to bringing back new insights and resources to better support the children and families I serve 💙. I’ll be back in the office on October 6th.

✨ Big news! ✨

I’m thrilled to share that I just wrapped up my very first presentation at a major conference!

🌟 Stepping out of my comfort zone was a little scary, but it gave me the chance to share my passion for trauma-informed care and child-centered play therapy with an amazing audience.

This experience stretched me in the best way possible, and I’m so excited to keep growing and sharing more of this work. 💚 Huge thanks to Nicole Ditch LLC for helping me bring my presentation to life—you made it all come together beautifully!
