Early vision screenings matter. 💛🦋
Amblyopia is highly treatable when caught early, and consistent care—like patching and follow up visits—can make a lifelong difference in a child’s vision.
Early detection leads to better outcomes. Don’t forget to schedule those annual vision exams!
Meet Harlynn!
When Harlynn was 5 years old, she failed her routine vision screening and was diagnosed with amblyopia, or “lazy eye”.
Amblyopia is often treated by covering the “good eye” with a patch for several hours a day.
Building Harlynn’s new routine wasn’t easy and treatment required consistency, patience and creativity.
“There were a lot of emotions, questions and adjustments as we learned what treatment would look like for her. What helped us most was staying consistent and finding ways to keep her distracted,” her parents shared.
Harlynn returned for follow-up appointments every three months, allowing her providers to closely monitor her vision and adjust treatment as needed.
Those regular visits helped keep her on track.
Looking back, her family is grateful the condition was caught early.
“It wasn’t always easy, but consistency, patience and great providers made all the difference."
