It’s not your imagination — weight loss really can feel more challenging with each passing decade.

As we age, our metabolic rate naturally decreases. That means we burn fewer calories at rest than we used to — even if our habits stay the same.

2️⃣ Hormonal changes
Shifts in hormones (like estrogen, testosterone, thyroid hormones, and cortisol) play a huge role in energy, hunger, mood, and fat storage. When they’re off, weight loss feels like pushing a boulder uphill.
