During the height of the Covid pandemic, as a critical care physician, I found myself grappling with the overwhelming stresses of death and dying, compounded by the rampant misinformation circulating in the news. The joy I once found in caring for my patients seemed to have vanished, leaving me feeling helpless and hopeless.

Desperate for a change, I turned to my camera—a long-neglected passion that had once brought me great solace. As I began to immerse myself in photography once more, I found a renewed sense of purpose and a glimmer of hope.

It was then that I made the life-changing decision to travel to Africa, seeking a new perspective and a fresh start. Little did I know at the time that this journey would have such a profound impact on my life.

As Climate Change continues to alter populations and how they interact with nature and wildlife we are sure to see more novel viruses to come as well as older viruses such as Polio due unfounded vaccination fears ... Get your vaccines and keep up with science not rumours ...

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! If you live in cape May County and are not vaccinated, NOW is the time to get the shot ! If you know someone who is not yet vaccinated do whatever you can to convince them otherwise and help facilitate transportation to the many vaccination sites in the county .
If you are vaccinated it's time to mask up ! While you are safe, you are doing this to reduce the spread of the disease and save your neighbor and family !
This is not a hoax , this disease is real and if you or a loved one is following "news" outlets that say otherwise turn the channel....now !

The K number, or K value, is a metric used to shed light on the variations of the R number across Covid-19 cases. It provides scientists with a more nuanced view of how the disease is spreading, rather than simply tracking if it’s spreading.
While the R number represents the average number of people a single infected person will go on to infect, the K number highlights that not all infected people will go on to infect the same number. It shows the difference in infection rates.
For example, if an infected person self-isolates straight away once contracting Covid-19, they are likely to infect fewer people than someone who has attended a mass gathering. The K value shows how much statistical variation there is in the spread of the virus.
When the K value is less than one, this indicates a high variation in spreading patterns.

K is all about the super-spreaders.

A four-part strategy of hygiene, distancing, screening, and masks will not return us to normal life. But, when signs indicate that the virus is under control, it could get people out of their homes and moving again.

Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water before touching or putting on the mask.
• Make sure your entire nose and mouth are covered when you put it on.
• Avoid touching the mask while you're out -- this can contaminate it.
• Do not take the mask off while you're in public.
• To take it off once you return, untie it from the back -- don't touch the front of it.
• You should immediately wash the mask after returning so it doesn't contaminate your belongings.
• Wash your hands immediately after you've taken it off, and again after you've washed the mask.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to make your own mask, based on guidance from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. They're reusable and washable, and they should be worn while you continue to obey social distancing measures.

For My Medical Home Family and Friends

We are entering uncharted Territory as we encounter this growing pandemic .
I can’t emphasize enough how serious this is and while we must socially distance ourselves we must all work together to support each other while being diligent about keeping our friends family and neighbors safe .

In order avoid unnecessary exposures and promote the CDC recommendations to stay in place , as of 03/23 we will be initiating Telemedicine services . While I will remain available by phone 24/7 for all patients , all scheduled elective office visits for the next 8 weeks will be done remotely . We will be contacting all patients to explain the specifics of how this will work but rest assured we will remain diligent in maintaining and encouraging ongoing health management while still taking the proper precautions necessary in these trying times.
