π¦Άπ₯ What is Gout β and How Can New Research Help?
Gout is a painful type of arthritis caused by high uric acid in the blood.
When uric acid builds up, it forms sharp crystals in the joints, leading to:
βοΈ Sudden, severe joint pain (often in the big toe)
βοΈ Swelling, redness, and warmth
βοΈ Difficulty walking or moving the joint
If not controlled, gout can cause permanent joint damage.
π¬ About This Clinical Study
This is a Phase 3, Randomized, Double-Blind, Multicenter Study β the most important stage of testing a new medicine.
What does that mean?
β’ Phase 3: Large study to confirm safety and effectiveness
β’ Randomized: Youβre assigned by chance to one treatment
β’ Double-Blind: Neither you nor the doctor knows which medicine you get
β’ Multicenter: Study is happening at many locations
π What is the study testing?
Comparing: π Dotinurad (new gout medicine)
vs.
π Allopurinol (standard gout medicine)
π― Goal: To see which medicine lowers uric acid better and is safe for adults with gout.
If you or someone you know has gout and high uric acid, you may qualify to participate and help advance medical research.
