Microlocs or Minilocs Installations 832. 413. 2913. Houston TX.
Top 5 Tips For The Best Way To Install Your Minilocs or Microlocs.
1. Have a thorough consultation to be sure of your decision. Ask all your questions and make sure you pay attention to the answers. Get a second opinion (if you can) or even a third opinion. Ask to see previous installations. The consultation allows you to see if the person's vibe is adequate to yours and most importantly if they know what they are doing. no one wants rude, mean or unpleasant demeanor touching their crown for so many hours.
2. Have realistic goals for your minilocs / microlocs , aiming for extremely small locs doesn't always mean successful microlocs journey. Extremely small could also mean thinning, receding hairline or scalp tenderness.
3. Install your locs on your hair in its natural curly / coily state (if possible), blow dried or flatiron is not always the best due to the shrinkage that must take place naturally. When you have blow dried your hair before install, the shrinkage is way more once you are ready to wash it. The microlocs is sometimes very uneven depending on the texture. When you install you microlocs on your natural texture, it has its full elasticity and bounce to it and can stretch out better, whereas the blow dried hair is way shorter after washing and lacks elasticity so you won't be able to stretch it out how you would want to because its "tangled up" in the interlocks or twists. Keep in mind blow dried hair is just to make it easier for the person installing but it does not mean that that is the best way for your natural curl pattern.
4. Start your Microlocs / Minilocs journey on freshly washed hair. When your hair is interlocked, there is a certain type of gentleness and routine needed so having hair that is already full of product build-up is not ideal to make your maintenance easy and simple.
5. Your locs routine once installed is very important. That very first retie (interlocking/retightening) is crucial and needs to be very punctual to avoid unnecessary slippage (locs unraveling). Slippage happens because your locs are fairly new (baby locs) and need time to mature, so it is best to re-tie early.
