I’m Amanda Austin, LMSW, a Licensed Master Social Worker, and I’m delighted to be a part of Autumn Counseling. My passion is to provide integrative counseling and psychotherapy services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I am dedicated to partnering with you on your individual journey to mental and emotional healing and wellness. I work through a trauma-informed, person-centered lens to address a wide range of emotional and interpersonal challenges. My goal is to create a safe, empathetic, and empowering environment for you to explore and navigate your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This may include addressing difficulties associated with depression, anxiety & mood disorders, grief and loss, relationship and family dynamics, LGBTQIA+ well-being & identity, eating disorders, and healing your relationship with food and your body.
After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Indiana University in 2001, I spent 14-years working in educational leadership and development. In 2018 I earned my Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. As part of my program, I was afforded the opportunity to intern with Communities In Schools at Lone Star Community College and the Montrose Center. During this time, I also worked as a mental health advisor / residential advisor at the Menninger Clinic and Pathfinder (their community integration program) and as a Hurricane Harvey recovery support specialist with Communities in Schools. Prior to joining Autumn Counseling, I was a primary therapist at Center For Discovery, dedicated to eating disorder recovery and helping individuals make peace with food and their bodies. Currently I am a member of the Houston Eating Disorders Specialists and the National Association of Social Workers. As a therapist at Autumn Counseling, I cherish the opportunity I am given to partner with clients from diverse backgrounds, each with unique needs, experiences, challenges, goals, and motivations. When I am not practicing at Autumn, I love snuggling with my dog Lola, spending time by the water, and enjoying laughs and meals with friends and family. It is truly my privilege to hold space for your story and work alongside you in creating a life most meaningful to you.
