Aw, this popped up as a FB memory from 2-14-2023. This was when I was working in primary care w my VIP & my partner in crime Lorencito. 🥰 I still give out flowers to all my patients on Valentine's day.

UPDATE #3 "U-Turns"

Total now is 20 adults & 2 pups! The photo below shows the group that already had their 2 pups in warm sweaters.🥰 Manager Maddie gave out jackets, bags, & blankets to everyone. The pups seemed very happy w the dog food. Doorman Henry kept his eyes peeled to find people & I did a million U-turns to catch up to them lol.

UPDATE #2 "Donated items."

No, these aren't photos of the laundry I have yet to put away. 11 blankets, about 30 jackets, big bag full of pants, some shirts, & some dog food have been donated so far.🥰 There's a man at one of the intersections that has a pup w him always. We are almost done sorting everything so we'll be more efficient & then we're off!

Update #1 on Keeping Houston Warm.
Yesterday we were able to hand out 7 bags before the rain started & tonight we were able to give out 4.

One guy was having a bad day & said no when we offered. Manager Maddie was a bit confused

One guy was washing windshields at the lights & of course getting wet while it was 30 degrees tonight. He told Manager Maddie, "Oooooooo, gracias thank you!" 🤣

One guy was in a wheelchair w cold, red, chapped hands. We waited at the light until green & we saw him excitingly take out the gloves & put them on while munching on the breakfast bar. He yelled, "thanks for the gloves!". 🥰

One guy took his bag from Manager Maddie & joked, "thanks for letting me steal from you. Stay bright & appropriate." She just replied, "ok, I will!" 🤔🤣

We had a baggie of dog food as well for the guy with the dog, but he wasnt out tonight. We will try to catch him tomorrow. One scarf is ready & i plan to finish another one tonight. We've also gotten some warm stuff from people in our neighborhood🥰

Let's see how the rest of this wk goes!🥳

Helping to keep Houston warm! Kindness projects are how The Blue Cherry Project started in 2021. There are many people struggling in Houston & on our FM1960W 😞.
Doorman Henry came up w the idea for care-packs & Manager Maddie packed them up so they're ready to go this weekend, next wk for winter part 2, & any winter part 3 we may get🥶! We only had 20 blue bags, so everything else will go in clear bags.

Each baggie has a beanie (I was recently corrected by a patient saying that the proper name was "toboggan"...I had never heard that word before 🤣), gloves, hand brush, hand sanitizer, breakfast bar, & water bottle. I may not have the scarves finished for this weekend, but ill try for next wk. Will post updates!

How you can help:
-If anyone has any other ideas on what we can add, let us know!

-If anyone has any warm clothes that are just taking up room in your attic, bring them by & we can add them.

Those who know me well, know that I LOVE David Bowie & my favorite movie is Labyrinth. Doorman Henry, Manager Maddie, & I go to see it everytime they bring it back to the theater.

RIP Bowie, Jan. 10th 2016. 40th anniversary of Labyrinth (1986).

This is our new friend Toby the elf! Manager Maddie wished for him, & here he is. He gets into trouble at times, but he means well. Follow along to see what he's been up to since Dec. 1st.

In case somebody doesn't know the story of the "Elf on a Shelf":
He is Santa's helper & arrives at a home with their book. The book is a story that explains to children how the elf uses magic to go to Santa every night & report how everyone is behaving. Then, he quickly return before anyone wakes up. It also lists some important things to know:
-In order for his magic to start working, he must be given an official name.
-Children can't touch him or he'll lose his magic. There are steps to fix it just in case.
-Dec 24th is his last trip, where he'll stay w Santa until next year.

AND the most important thing...is to watch out because sometimes he likes to be mischievous!
