Legacy Community Health headed north this week to drop off a truckload of supplies for flood victims in San Angelo, Texas. Legacy's facilities team collected and wrapped pallets stacked with individual hygiene kits and other donations, courtesy of our friends at International Medical Corps (IMC) and Direct Relief.

Facilities Management Senior Director Eric Howard and Marketing Manager Ivan Bocanegra drove to San Angelo to deliver the much-needed supplies to our fellow Texas FQHC, La Esperanza Clinic. CEO Dean Munn and his team have been out in the community with their mobile unit, with anxiety and medication needs as top concerns.

"Texas Community Health Centers always rise to the cause and are part of the solution," said Munn. "We appreciate our friends at Legacy for making the six-hour drive here to bring us these supplies."

A heartfelt thank you to Team Legacy for truly bringing our mission to life— Driving healthy change in our communities!

Our Legacy Southwest Campus located at 6441 High Star 77074 will be available to address pediatric walk-ins from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Tuesday, May 27 we will be open our regular hours.

🚨 Measles Vaccines for Kids This Saturday! 🚨

With measles cases rising in Texas, protecting your child is more important than ever. Legacy Community Health is hosting a special MMR Vaccination Drive to provide free, walk-in immunizations for children.

📅 Saturday, March 8 | 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
📍 Legacy Fifth Ward Clinic – 3811 Lyons Ave.
📍 Legacy Southwest Clinic – 6441 High Star Dr.

- Anyone without proof of a vaccine should get a vaccination. / Cualquier persona sin prueba de vacunación debe vacunarse.

- Legacy will vaccinate between the ages of 12 months and 18 years. / Legacy vacunará a personas entre 12 meses y 18 años.

- A second dose will be required 28 days later. A Legacy team member will be available to schedule the next vaccination. / Se requerirá una segunda dosis después de 28 días. Un miembro del equipo de Legacy estará disponible para programar la próxima dosis.

Sylvester Turner was a true servant leader and a strong supporter of Legacy Community Health. From his earliest days as a State Representative, he recognized the impact of HIV on Houstonians and fought to garner funding for Legacy programs that served people with AIDS. Throughout his years of public service, he consistently worked by Legacy’s side as we expanded care for more Houstonians across the region. He supported the expansion of Medicaid and fought for extended pre and postnatal maternal care.

During his term as Mayor, he celebrated Legacy’s growth and success throughout his tenure, always helping us access available funds for services and partnering with us during times of disaster and COVID. Then Mayor Turner placed a letter highlighting Legacy’s community contributions in our Annual Report most every year. He embraced Legacy and our services after the Pulse shooting in Orlando and named some of our team to his newly appointed LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee.

Texas is experiencing its largest measles outbreak in over 30 years, with 124 confirmed cases across multiple counties. With recent exposure risks in San Antonio and San Marcos, it’s only a matter of time before measles reaches Houston. This highly contagious disease can be serious—even fatal—especially for young children and the elderly.
