Up to 95% of women with PCOS have
elevated insulin levels.

And yet…
Elevated insulin isn’t part of the diagnosis.
It’s not part of the treatment.
It’s barely even discussed.

Instead, we treat the symptoms of high insulin levels:

• Irregular periods
• Acne
• Hair loss on the scalp
• Unwanted hair growth
• Weight gain
• Cravings
• Fatigue
• Mood swings
• Trouble sleeping
• Water retention

These aren’t random.
They’re the result of chronic high insulin.

We don’t need more Band-Aids.
We need to test insulin.
We need to treat insulin.
Because when insulin goes down, these symptoms
improve.

It’s time the guidelines caught up.

Understanding the Impact of High Insulin Levels on Pregnancy 🤰 📈

Did you know that high insulin levels can significantly affect pregnancy outcomes? Why and how below 👇🏻

🔥 Chronic Inflammation: Elevated insulin levels can trigger chronic inflammation in the body, disrupting the delicate balance necessary for a successful pregnancy. This inflammation can interfere with the implantation of the fertilized embryo in the uterine lining, making it difficult for pregnancy to progress.⁣

💔 Impaired Embryo Implantation: High insulin levels can impair the ability of the fertilized embryo to properly implant in the uterus, leading to an increased risk of miscarriage. This crucial stage of early pregnancy requires optimal conditions, and any disruption can have devastating consequences.⁣

🤰 Abnormal Placenta Development: Additionally, elevated insulin levels can contribute to abnormal placenta development. The placenta plays a vital role in nourishing and supporting the growing fetus, and any abnormalities can increase the risk of miscarriage and early pre-term delivery.⁣

🌟 Awareness is Key: By raising awareness about the link between high insulin levels and pregnancy complications, we can empower individuals to take proactive steps to optimize their reproductive health. Like maintaining a Low Insulin Lifestyle, there are ways to mitigate these risks and support a healthy pregnancy journey.⁣

Let’s clear some things up:
🚫Insulin resistance is not caused by eating fat.
🚫It's not caused by obesity (cart before the horse...)
🚫It's definitely NOT diagnosed with an A1c.

It’s driven by recurrent insulin spikes via overconsumption of starch (yes, even whole grains), sugar, and unfermented dairy.

Even worse when these foods are combined with fat, especially processed fats.

This matters for women with PCOS, where insulin resistance affects up to 95%, yet remains excluded from diagnostic and treatment guidelines.

It's time to start understanding the metabolic pathways at play.

At Lilli Health, we help patients lower insulin through real education, targeted testing, and strategies that actually address the root cause, like a Low Insulin Lifestyle.

“Eat less and exercise more.”
That’s still the standard advice we’re giving women with PCOS.

Meanwhile, up to 95% of them have elevated insulin, a hormone that drives hunger, fatigue, and weight gain.

And then we wonder why they “aren’t compliant.”
Why they “aren’t losing weight.”

Are we explaining how high insulin levels affect their ability to reach their goals? Are we even testing it?

No.

👉Imagine not testing cholesterol in a patient with heart disease.
👉Or not testing glucose in someone with diabetes.
👉Or not testing TSH or free T3 in someone with a thyroid condition.

So why are we ignoring insulin in a condition literally defined by hyperinsulinemia? It's unacceptable. It’s not just a missed lab. It’s a missed opportunity to actually help. To diagnose earlier.

This is exactly why I created a Low Insulin Lifestyle™ and why we built Lilli Health.

Because patients deserve more than recycled advice.

Lowering insulin goes beyond weight loss.

When insulin levels stay high, it can signal cancer cells to multiply faster. That’s why insulin resistance is linked to higher risks of breast, prostate, colon, and endometrial cancers.

This is why lowering insulin matters.
Not just for weight loss. Not just for PCOS. For everyone.

Losing weight with PCOS isn’t about willpower.
It’s about lowering insulin.

Too many women get stuck making these common mistakes:
❌ Counting calories
❌ Chugging protein shakes
❌ Living in the gym

The truth? A Low Insulin Lifestyle™ is what finally unlocks results, without the constant hunger, fatigue, and frustration.

👉 Save this post for the next time you feel stuck.

PCOS is about more than ovaries.

According to the CDC, more than half of women with PCOS will develop type 2 diabetes by age 40 if insulin isn’t addressed.

The problem? Most doctors don’t test insulin.

That’s why we created Lilli Kits—at-home blood tests that finally measure the labs that matter for PCOS, including insulin.

Pair that with the Low Insulin Lifestyle™ in the Lilli App, and you have the tools to change your life and your future health.

👉 Share this with someone who needs to know PCOS is about more than periods.

Don't confuse glucose and insulin.

Just because something doesn’t spike your blood sugar doesn’t mean it won’t spike your insulin.

And if you have PCOS, insulin is the real issue.

🍼Milk contains naturally occurring insulin and IGF-1 because it’s literally designed to make a newborn baby grow...FAST.

💪Whey protein? It can spike insulin higher than white bread.

🍯And “natural” sugars like honey and maple syrup still cause big insulin surges.

Want to eat dairy? Focus on fermented options like greek yogurt and aged cheese. The fermentation process can lower the insulin response. *Always choose full-fat over fat-free or reduced-fat.* 🧀

For women with PCOS, this matters—because up to 95% of us have elevated insulin, and most of us have no idea (primarily because doctors refuse to test for it 🙄🤯😡)

The focus has always been on carbs and calories.
But the real issue for many of us is insulin.

This is exactly why I created a Low Insulin Lifestyle™.💡

Because the standard advice just doesn’t work for everyone. It didn't work for me either. So I created a better way.
