Every birth has a moment that stays with you. For me, with her, it was the moment we realized transition was likely the next step.
She looked at me — exhausted, unsure if she could keep “doing this.”
And of course, I understood.
The doctor came in and said something that brought tears to my eyes:
“Let’s have a baby. Let’s meet him.”
And meet him we did. 🩵
41 hours & 54 minutes.
From the first medical intervention to the arrival of her baby.
In that time, there were waves —
laughter and breath,
pain and pressure,
blood, sweat, and tears.
I am so lucky to have witnessed the strength of a woman earning her title of mother — working for it with everything she had. The sheer will she carried, the trust she placed in her body, and the way she listened — for all 41 hours and 54 minutes.
And in the end, the path shifted.
Labor gave way to surgery, and her baby arrived.
The experience remained whole.
The strength was still hers.
The arrival was still sacred.
Every birth is valid.
Every story deserves to be honored.
And this one was beautiful. 🤍
