Digital screen time is at an all-time high, in large part due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some jobs have gone from being in office to being at home office, which may not be such a bad thing except for the increase in digital screen time. If you work at a computer all day, consider getting computer glasses to reduce eye strain. Those working with chemicals, mechanical irritants, and other hazards should protect their eyes with safety eyewear. If you work outdoors, don’t forget your sunglasses!

The excessive use of digital devices is taking a toll on our eyes and vision. Save your vision by taking a break every 20 minutes to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Sit at least arm's length away from your screen and make sure to adjust screen brightness to match the lighting around you to avoid eye strain. That said, the most important thing you can do is to get your eyes examined regularly.

Meet Dr. Devera

Dr. Devera received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and minor in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. His studies continued at the University of Houston College of Optometry where he graduated as a Doctor of Optometry in 2016. Following his studies, he practiced at TSO in Texas City until 2019. Dr. Devera is excited to be opening TSO at Clear Lake Marketplace and even more excited to be working with the community. His favorite part of his work is the relationship building. “People visit this office, trusting me with their eye care needs, and I am not satisfied until those needs are met.”

Dr. Devera was born in Clovis, New Mexico but came to Texas as fast as he could. He grew up in Friendswood, Texas and now lives nearby in League City with his wife Sydney, daughters Lilliana and Luna Rey, and their dog Hera. In his free time he likes to golf, watch sports, play board games, and spend time in fellowship with members of his Church.
