When emergency crews are working on the shoulder, every passing driver affects their safety.

Texas law requires drivers to slow down and move over for:
• Fire trucks
• Ambulances
• Police
• Tow trucks
• TxDOT vehicles
• Utility crews with flashing lights

If you cannot safely move over, reduce your speed by 20 mph below the posted limit.

A small shift in your lane gives first responders the space they need to do their jobs and go home safely.

Allergic reactions can change quickly.
Recognizing the early symptoms helps prevent a severe medical emergency.

Early signs like hives or an itchy throat can progress fast.
Severe symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, or sudden confusion require immediate medical help.

If symptoms worsen, or you’re unsure, call 911.
Our EMS crews can treat severe reactions on the spot.

South Texas sees a rise in carbon monoxide incidents when temperatures drop, mostly from portable heaters and generators being used the wrong way.

A few simple precautions can save lives:
• Never run a generator in a garage or enclosed space.
• Keep portable heaters away from bedding and furniture.
• Make sure your home has a working CO alarm.
• Ventilate your home whenever using fuel-burning devices.

If someone feels dizzy, confused, or suddenly nauseous, get them outside immediately and call 911.

Chest pain isn’t something to ignore.

If someone has chest pressure, shortness of breath, sweating, or nausea, call 911 immediately, even if the symptoms come and go.

Heart emergencies can happen fast, especially during colder months or stressful times. Getting EMS on the way right away can make all the difference.

Our crews are trained to respond within minutes and begin treatment before reaching the hospital.

Most home emergencies on Thanksgiving start in the kitchen, but EMS often responds to what happens at the table, too.

Stay safe this holiday with a few quick reminders:
• Never leave a fryer or stovetop unattended
• Keep kids and pets out of cooking zones
• Watch young children and older adults while eating
• Be mindful of choking hazards
• Call 911 immediately if someone can’t breathe, cough, or speak

We’re thankful for our Harris County neighbors. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Cooler weather can make breathing harder, especially for those with asthma or COPD.

Every fall, EMS teams respond to more respiratory emergencies that could’ve been prevented.
Here’s how to stay ahead of flare-ups:
• Use your controller inhaler regularly
• Watch out for smoky air, dust, and sudden cold
• Keep emergency meds with you
• Talk to your doctor if symptoms change

A little planning now can help you avoid a 911 call later.
Share this with someone who should keep this in mind. 🍂

When you’re out and about on a gorgeous day and spot a group of kids in a parking lot… what do you do?

A little impromptu PR, an ambulance tour, and letting them listen to their own heartbeats, of course! ❤️🚑

It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do. Connecting with our community—especially the tiny future first responders—is always the best part of the day.
