Is it "Just Aging" or is it Heart Failure? Know the difference. 💓📉
Caregiving involves a lot of observation. Sometimes, the signs of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) are subtle before they become emergencies.

Ask yourself these 3 questions:
1️⃣ Are their shoes leaving marks? Swollen ankles (edema) are a classic sign that the heart isn't pumping blood back up from the legs efficiently.
2️⃣ Are they sleeping sitting up? If they can't lie flat without gasping for air, this is a specific symptom called orthopnea.
3️⃣ Did they gain weight overnight? Gaining water weight happens fast—much faster than fat. A spike of 3 lbs in 24 hours is a warning sign.

You don't have to manage this alone. Heart failure is complex, but it can be managed at home with the right support. Icon Home Health provides skilled nursing to help monitor vitals, manage complex medications, and improve quality of life.

Did you know a "Mini Stroke" is a major warning sign? 🚨🧠

It’s easy to dismiss a sudden wave of dizziness or a numb arm if it goes away after a few minutes. But medically, this is known as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), and it’s one of the most critical warnings your body can give you.

What is a Mini Stroke? During a TIA, blood flow to the brain is temporarily blocked by a clot. Unlike a full stroke, the blockage clears before permanent brain damage occurs—often within minutes.

BUT... the underlying cause is still there. 🛑

⚠️ Watch for these sudden symptoms:
Face: Is one side drooping?
Arms: Is one arm weak or numb?
Speech: Is speech slurred or strange?
Vision: Sudden double vision or a "curtain" falling over one eye.
Balance: Unexplained dizziness or stumbling.

Why you must act FAST: You cannot tell the difference between a mini stroke and a full stroke while it is happening. Ignoring these signs because they "went away" puts you at high risk for a major stroke in the near future. Even if you feel better, call 911 immediately.
