Pre-Thanksgiving grind so I can enjoy every bit of the holiday later. Knocking out this work, clearing my plate early, and keeping the vibes light, focused, and grateful.

This holiday season is beautiful for some and overwhelming for many. If 2025 has been heavy, you are not alone. The pressure to show up everywhere, smile through everything, and “push through” can be too much.

Here’s your reminder:
You get to say no.
You get to rest.
You get to choose where your energy goes.

If your body or spirit feels tired, that’s a sign to pause, not push. Protect your peace, honor your emotional limits, and give yourself permission to create a holiday rhythm that feels safe, manageable, and aligned with your healing.

Rest is not selfish. It’s necessary.

Even warriors need rest. Kings need care. 👑

Dr. Meagan N. Houston

Too often, men are taught to fight through pain, to keep pushing even when their spirit is exhausted. But healing isn’t weakness, it’s wisdom.
Rest doesn’t take away your crown. It reminds you that your power has limits, and your peace has value. 💭
This Men’s Health Month, let’s honor the men who fight quietly, feel deeply, and are learning that self-care is strength. 💙

Another reminder that even those who seem strong, successful, and surrounded by support can be silently struggling. 💔
We lost Marshawn Kneeland far too soon , and his story reminds us to check in, speak up, and reach out.
You are not alone. Healing is possible. There is help. There is hope. 💛

Today’s didactic experience took us beyond the classroom and into the real world of mental health care.

I took my students to Kingwood Pines Hospital located in Kingwood, Texas, to see where patients begin their healing journey, to walk the halls, feel the environment, and truly understand what inpatient treatment looks like.

This visit reminded us that therapy isn’t just about treatment plans or theory… it’s about compassion, connection, and creating safe spaces for people to rebuild.

I’m so proud of my students for showing up with open hearts and minds, ready to learn, observe, and grow into the next generation of clinicians who lead with empathy. 💛

Watching my students step into their light reminded me why I love what I do.
Representation matters. Confidence matters. Purpose matters.

Therapy Tip for Sunday:
You don’t have to earn your rest. The world keeps spinning even when you slow down. 🌎💛

Today’s reminder: Rest is not a reward; it’s a requirement. Give your body, mind, and spirit permission to pause. Whether you’re managing depression, navigating ADHD, or just feeling stretched thin, slowing down is still progress.

Take a deep breath, unplug a little, and let your nervous system exhale.
You deserve ease today. ✨

Weekends aren’t just for unwinding, they’re for recalibrating your mind and body. As a psychologist, I often remind people that rest, laughter, and spontaneity aren’t indulgences, they’re essential parts of emotional regulation and resilience. When we allow ourselves to lean into joy, loosen our routines, and embrace a little “messy bun” energy, we create space for our nervous system to reset and our creativity to flourish.

In this video, I speak as a licensed psychologist and su***de prevention expert about why mental health awareness is essential for Black boys and Black men.

Too many are suffering in silence, battling depression, anxiety, and self-harm without the support they deserve. It’s time to normalize therapy, vulnerability, and emotional healing in our communities.

Black men’s mental health matters.
Let’s keep breaking the stigma and start the conversation. 💛

✨ The weekend is the perfect time to pause, breathe, and reset. Spending a little time in the sun can boost your mood, increase vitamin D, and help your body regulate serotonin, one of the brain’s “feel-good” chemicals that plays a big role in easing depression. Use these days to recharge: step outside, soak up the warmth, and give yourself permission to rest and refresh. Small moments in the light can create big shifts in how you feel. 🌞💛
