If your child is constantly moving, climbing, wiggling, or crashing into things… you’re not alone.

Many kids need movement to organize their brains. It’s actually how their bodies learn to focus.

Building strong sensory and motor foundations in the early years helps children develop the attention skills they’ll need for school later on.

Early support isn’t about fixing a child.
It’s about giving their body the tools it needs to succeed.

Strong attention skills don’t just happen, they’re built. Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the foundational skills like regulation, body awareness, and focus that make paying attention possible. When those pieces grow, confidence and learning grow too.

At the Center of Developmental Pediatrics and Horizon Pediatrics, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and reach their full potential. This month is a time to celebrate the incredible strengths of individuals with developmental disabilities and to raise awareness about the importance of inclusion, understanding, and early support.

Developmental disabilities can impact areas such as learning, language, behavior, and physical development. In fact, about 1 in 6 children in the United States has a developmental disability, making early identification and support more important than ever.

Our mission is to partner with families to help children build confidence, develop critical skills, and celebrate every milestone along the way. Through individualized, child-centered care and play-based learning, we work to create strong foundations for lifelong success.

You don’t have to choose between fun and growth this summer. Your child can have both.

Our camps are intentionally designed to develop the whole child, combining pediatric occupational therapy, academic enrichment, social-emotional growth, and milestone development... all led by a certified teacher.

Every obstacle course, game, craft, and challenge is backed by purpose. While your child is moving, laughing, making friends, and having an absolute blast, they’re also building coordination, confidence, focus, resilience, and the strong foundations that set them up for long-term success.

They’ll leave camp more capable, more confident, and more prepared. AND you’ll have the peace of mind knowing their summer was both joyful and deeply impactful.

Our camps are all about growth, confidence, connection, and fun!

Playground skills build classroom skills.

Research links movement to improved attention, reading readiness, and classroom participation. Balance and coordination support posture, eye tracking, handwriting, and sitting upright at a desk.

Climbing, hopping, spinning, crawling, and swinging strengthen the vestibular and core systems that help kids focus and feel confident.

If your child seems clumsy or avoids movement, it may be a foundational skill that needs support, not laziness. Pediatric OT can help!

Academic success starts below the neck.

Before strong reading and writing come attention, posture, hand strength, visual tracking, and the ability to follow multi-step directions. Research shows fine motor development is directly connected to early literacy outcomes. Children build strength through play!

Did you know that if writing feels exhausting, the brain will avoid it?

Keep in mind: movement, strengthening, and regulation strategies often improve learning faster than extra worksheets. Play is KEY!
