For ESL instructor Norma Vargas, her journey to teaching began as an ESL student. In 1999, Vargas began taking ESL classes with CHRISTUS Learning Center Manager Olga Rojas, who was then teaching at the Houston READ Commission. Last Thursday, Armando Trevino was honored for his 25 years of volunteer service at CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread. During the gathering, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare president Richard Torres presented Trevino with an honorary plaque that now proudly hangs next to the kitchen stove Trevino spent so many years preparing food at for Galveston's homeless.

Due to the inclement weather expected in the Houston area this weekend, CHRISTUS St. Mary's Clinic will be closed on Saturday, January 24 and will re-open on Monday, January 26 at 10 a.m. CHRISTUS Point of Light Clinic will also have a late opening at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 26.
