Today we were at Autry Park for RISE + SHINE: RESET & REFLECT YOGA
I had a few people ask me to share our journal prompts, so here it is if you'd like to take time on this WINTER SOLSTICE, the shortest day and longest night of the year (in the Northern Hemispher).
🔥LETTING GO..
1. Gently bring your awareness to your heart.
2. Breathe into it as if it were a doorway.
3. Ask: What am I ready to let go of...gently, without force?
4. Allow whatever arises to come without judgment. Words, images, emotions, or silence, it’s all welcome.
5. Now, bring into your awareness a single word, phrase, or feeling that reflects what you want to release.
6. Write it down on a piece of paper and hold it close to your heart.
7. Thank this thing you're ready to release since it may have helped you for a chapter in your life.
8. When you're ready, whisper a gentle goodbye to this word/phrase/sentence and say out loud:
I'm ready to let go!
I'm ready to let go!
I'm ready to let go!
9. Tear or safely burn this piece of paper and watch it fade away.
10. Notice what arises in you. Is there a softening anywhere in your body? Is there lightness? Is there fear or joy? Just observe without judgement.
✨️SETTING INTENTIONS
It's important to know where you are before setting intentions for the new year. Like a navigation system or GPS, you have to know your starting point before you can set your destination/goal. (It might be helpful to scroll through your photos on your phone, your social media or your calendar.)
Take moment to journal about the following:
1. What are 3 HIGHS about this past year? And what did I learn or take away from these moments/experiences?
2. What were 3 LOWS from this past year?
And what did I learn or take away from these moments/experiences?
3. What would I like to STOP from last year? (Habit, thought, action, etc.)
4. What would I like to CONTINUE?
5. What would I like to START?
6. From the list of START, choose the most important or the one that would impact your life the most and circle it.
7. Write down 1 daily or weekly action you can do to start towards this goal.
8. Share it with a friend or with yourself in a mirror. (Speaking it outloud can give your goal more energy.)
9. What would it look like or feel like if you were to stay consistent with these actions?
10. Now, close your eyes and imagine yourself 6 months from now, having stayed on track with your goal:
What do you look and feel like?
Who is around you?
Where are you?
Can you see any colors?
Do you smell any scents?
Stay in the space a moment and be with your future self.
Connect with her/him...
11. When you're ready, take a few breaths into your heart and bring a gentle smile to your face.
12. Sitting with whatever came up for you, create a word, phrase or sentence that supports your goal. It might be ease, courage, balance, trust, visibility, or something else.
Let it come naturally.
13. If it feels right, silently repeat it to yourself. Let it settle into your body, like a seed planted in fertile soil.
14. Take a few last cleansing and nourishing breaths into your seed and watch it begin to sprout within you. 🌱
