💚 Wellness Wednesday | Emotional Wellness Week 💚

Emotional wellness isn’t something we talk about once — it’s something we practice every single day at Summerhouse Houston.

Our members are supported as they learn to identify their feelings, express emotions in healthy ways, and build confidence in who they are. With the guidance of our DSPs, members practice gratitude, reflect on their experiences, and celebrate progress — both big milestones and small wins.

Emotional wellness is woven into everyday moments:
✨ checking in with one another
✨ working through challenges together
✨ recognizing effort, growth, and resilience
✨ creating a safe space where feelings are seen, heard, and respected

At Summerhouse, our members are valued for exactly who they are — and supported as they continue to grow.

Because when emotional wellness is nurtured daily, confidence blossoms. 🌱

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 💙

At Summerhouse Houston, this month—and every month—is about celebrating abilities, promoting inclusion, and recognizing the incredible contributions of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness, break down stereotypes, and highlight the importance of community, opportunity, and belonging. It’s about ensuring individuals with IDD are seen, valued, and supported as active members of our community.

At Summerhouse Houston, we proudly serve adults with IDD through meaningful community engagement, life-skills development, volunteering, employment opportunities, and social connections—all within a true community program, not just a day program. This is a place where individuals grow, gain confidence, build friendships, and thrive.

✨ If you are an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability—or know someone who is—and are interested in learning more about our Summerhouse community, we’d love to connect with you. Reach out today and take the first step toward a place where lives truly blossom. 🌱

Abilities over labels.
Strength over limitations.

When asked what he likes most about his job:

💬 “Team interaction — it makes work feel supportive and connected.”

💬 “Having a routine makes it easier to retain information and remember what I need to do.”

Routine builds retention.
Interaction builds confidence.
Support builds independence.

Before employment began, our team helped him:

• Find the right job fit
• Prepare for interviews
• Practice communication skills
• Build workplace confidence

Supported Employment Specialists Leah Christian and Candice Floyd guide individuals through preparation, while Job Coach Jasmine Brown provides real-time support and skill reinforcement.

At Career Launchpad, you’ll learn how this structure creates sustainable employment outcomes.
