After a rainy Saturday, we have some great news: the weather forecast for tomorrow is looking much better! 🌤️ We are keeping our hopes high for clear skies as we head into a very special Sunday in the community.
If you’re looking for a sensory-friendly way to get outdoors, the Houston Zoo is hosting its Autism Acceptance Day tomorrow, April 19! It’s designed to be a supportive, low-stress environment for our amazing kiddos and their families.
What to expect tomorrow:
Early Access: The gates open at 8:00 AM—one hour early—so you can enjoy the animals before the main crowds arrive.
Sensory Keeper Chats: Keepers will be sharing tactile items (like real feathers!) and showing off visual enrichment for the animals.
Quiet Zones: Designated "decompress" areas will be available if anyone needs a calm moment to recharge.
Wildlife Workshops: Fun, hands-on activities like making bird nest starters and prairie seed balls.
Sensory Kits: As always, the Zoo has sensory bags with headphones and fidgets available for checkout at the entrance.
We hope to see some of our C Positive families pictures enjoying the fresh air and the wildlife! Whether you’re heading to the Zoo or just relaxing at home, we wish you a joyful, peaceful Sunday. 💙

⚾️ Home Runs for Autism!
We are so excited to support Hope For Three and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys for the "Home Runs for Autism" event this Sunday, April 12th!
At C Positive ABA, we love seeing our community come together to create inclusive, fun-filled environments for children and families. This program is such a wonderful way to celebrate the autism community at the ballpark, and we couldn't be happier to see it happening right here at Constellation Field. 🚀
Will you be there? Keep an eye out for us—we’d love to see some familiar faces! Also, be sure to follow Hope For Three to stay updated on all the incredible events and resources they provide year-round.
See you at the game! ⚾️💙

Here is what you will need:
A clean, empty cardboard egg carton
Children's paint (non-toxic washables)
Paintbrushes
Glue (school glue or tacky glue)
Googly eyes
Pipe cleaners
Scissors (and parental supervision)
Step 1: Prepare and Cut the Base
Action: Take a cardboard egg carton and cut off the lid and the back flap. Then, carefully cut one of the central rows of egg cups out of the bottom section.
Tip for Parents: This step requires sharp scissors and can be tough. It is best handled by an adult or requires very close supervision with safety scissors.
Step 2: Choose and Paint Your Colors
Action: Decide on a pattern. You can make a "rainbow" caterpillar (like the example), or your child can paint it all one favorite color. Apply a good coat of paint to each individual cup section, starting with the "head."
Tip for Parents: This is the messiest and most fun step for kids! Layering the paint can help get deeper colors.
Step 3: Attach the Big Googly Eyes
Action: While the paint is still slightly wet (or after it has dried, depending on the glue you have), add two large dots of glue to the "head" section. Let your child carefully press two googly eyes into place.
Tip for Parents: If using washable paint, sometimes the paint itself will hold the eyes if you press them down gently while it's wet. Otherwise, standard glue works perfectly.
Step 4: Add the Antennae
Action: Have an adult carefully poke two small holes in the top of the "head" cup. Cut a pipe cleaner into two equal lengths. Help your child poke the pipe cleaners through the holes, bending them slightly on the inside to secure them.
Tip for Parents: Twist the ends slightly into swirls (or use pre-twirled ones like the example image) to give the caterpillar extra character. You can also draw a little smile below the eyes.
Step 5: Let it Dry and Play!

Watching these butterflies take flight today was such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do at C. Positive ABA.
Just like our kids, these butterflies have spent weeks growing, working hard, and preparing for this exact moment. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to get to the "flying" stage, but seeing them finally catch the breeze makes it all worth it.
The children were so proud to help their little friends find their wings. It’s a celebration of progress, new beginnings, and the pure joy of reaching a milestone.
Fly high, little ones!

The wait is finally over! We are so excited to announce that our first Painted Lady butterfly has officially emerged from its chrysalis. Watching this transformation from tiny, hungry caterpillar to this winged beauty has been such an incredible journey.
There is something so rewarding about witnessing the "quiet" part of the process—the patience it takes for them to change inside those cocoons—and seeing it all pay off. We still have a few more friends waiting to make their debut, so stay tuned for more updates!
Fun Fact for the Kids:
Did you know that when a butterfly first comes out, its wings are soft and crumpled? They have to pump fluid into them to get them ready for their very first flight!

Our journey with our Painted Lady caterpillars has reached a major milestone! As you can see, they have officially moved into the chrysalis stage.
It’s a delicate and exciting time! We’ve just moved them from their growing cups into their large mesh habitat. This "hanging out" phase is where the real magic happens behind the scenes. Soon we’ll have butterflies ready to spread their wings!

Non verbal individuals always have something to say. We can help you figure out how to help them have a voice, how to help them communicate!

Our C Positive caterpillars haven't just been eating; they’ve been growing at warp speed! If you saw them when they first arrived, you wouldn't believe they are the same tiny creatures.
This incredible journey is all thanks to a process called moulting, where they actually outgrow and shed their old exoskeletons.
They’ve officially made it to the next big milestone! Check out that perfect "J-shape" at the top of the habitat. This unique posture means they are preparing for their final moult, where they will transform into a hard chrysalis (also called pupating). Stay tuned, the next phase is pure magic!
