With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of John “Lucky” Luckadoo, one of the last living members of the legendary 100th Bomb Group, forever known as the “Bloody Hundredth.” 🕊️🇺🇸✈️

With his final flight now complete, the skies lose a brave soul whose courage helped shape history.

As a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot, Luckadoo flew 25 perilous missions over Germany between 1943 and 1944, navigating flak-filled skies where survival was never promised. Bombers fell from formation. Crews vanished in smoke and fire. Each mission demanded unshakable resolve — and every safe return felt like a miracle.

He carried the weight of those who never came home.
And he flew on in their honor.

Though war tested him in the harshest ways, the life he lived afterward was marked not by pride, but by humility. He represented a generation that answered the call without hesitation — and bore the cost without complaint.

Now, another voice of the Greatest Generation grows silent.

But his courage still echoes in the skies he once crossed, and his legacy will forever fly in formation with the men of the Bloody Hundredth.
