Dr. Stephen Mahoney is the owner and director of West Houston Dermatology Laser & Skin Care Center, which he founded in 1993. A long time Houstonian, Dr. Mahoney graduated from Memorial High School. He attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors. Upon receiving his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Mahoney then completed his Dermatology residency at the University of Texas at Houston. He has extensive training in medical, surgical and cosmetic Dermatology allowing him to be on the cutting edge of dermatological medicine. Dr. Mahoney is Board Certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Dermatological Society.
John F. Dunn, M.D.

Dr. Dunn joined West Houston Dermatology in early 2014. Originally from The Woodlands, Texas, he attended Texas A&M University where he obtained a degree in biomedical science. Dr. Dunn went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Texas in Houston, where he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Medical Honor Society. After completing his internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas, Dr. Dunn returned to Houston to complete his dermatology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center. He served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Dunn is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society.

Valorie Coulter, NP-C has been with West Houston Dermatology since 2011. Valorie attended the University of Arkansas where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Pulmonology and Neurosurgery before returning to school to become a Nurse Practitioner in Dermatology. Valorie attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program and received a Master of Science degree in Nursing. During her graduate education, Valorie completed a specialty internship in Dermatology. She is trained in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Valorie is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Dermatology Nurses Association, Texas Nurses’ Association and the Houston Area Nurse Practitioner’s Association.

With her extensive aesthetics knowledge and experience, Janet has become a valuable resource for many of our long time patients, providing them with the highest level of skin care based on their individual needs and skin type.
