Did you know—Alcohol may worsen your acid reflux symptoms??

Frequent alcohol consumption can cause the lower esophagus sphincter to relax, causing more stomach acid to flow upwards. Alcohol also slows down stomach emptying which leads to acid sitting longer in the stomach, lowering the pH level. Decreasing or even cutting out alcoholic drinks for at least 6 months can improve esophagus function which may improve acid reflux symptoms.

Carbonated beverages may worsen symptoms of acid reflux. 🥤🥤
Bubbly drinks, like sodas, may temporarily reduce the pH in the stomach. These drinks often cause burping which could send acid into the esophagus. Also, soda drinkers were a major predictor for nighttime heartburn. Try staying away from carbonation, stick to flat beverages instead, and see if your reflux symptoms improve.
