We’re so excited to introduce a brand new project for our South Central Texas T1D community—our very first T1D Community Cookbook! 🍽️💙

This isn’t your typical cookbook. It’s a collection of recipes, real-life tips, and personal stories from families living with T1D—created to support, inspire, and connect our community. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or years into the journey, this book is for you.

Want to be part of it? We’d love for you to contribute a recipe that means something to you and your T1D story.

📌 What to include:
• Recipe ingredients & instructions with total time and yield
• A short story about your T1D connection to the recipe
• A photo (of the individual with T1D or with the person submitting)
• Optional: tips, substitutions, or carb counts

📅 Submission Deadline: April 7
📩 Send to: slutzenberger@bt1d.org

Community Summit Keynote Speaker Announcement 💙

We’re honored to welcome Dr. Brooke Shelton, PT, DPT as the keynote speaker for our Breakthrough T1D Community Summit on June 6 in San Antonio.

Brooke has been living with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years and has dedicated her career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy to helping others with type one diabetes. Through her work with Dynamic Diabetes, she supports people navigating everything from movement and fitness to the very real challenge of diabetes burnout.

Her personal journey with burnout and recovery gives her a powerful perspective on what it truly looks like to build a sustainable life with T1D.

We can’t wait for our community to learn from her 💙

The beginning of a T1D journey can feel so heavy. This weekend nearly 125 of you gathered at our Newly Diagnosed Dinner — new to this walk, but not walking it alone. Grateful for every story shared and every connection made. Community changes everything. 💙
