Grief can feel isolating, no one should have to navigate it alone.

We believe families should feel supported, informed, and never alone in the process.

Armed Forces Appreciation Day at RODEOHOUSTON honors the brave men and women who have served in the United States military, bringing the Houston community together to recognize both active-duty service members and veterans.

This year’s event began with a special flyover of five Apache helicopters from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment based at Fort Hood, Texas. The event also welcomed members of the Greatest Generation, including a 102-year-old World War II veteran. In total, more than 4,000 military personnel from Fort Hood, Fort Polk, and NAS Corpus Christi were served, along with 500 recruits who were sworn into service that day.

Thank you to Chairman of the Board Pat Mann Phillips and her incredible team for putting on an unforgettable experience, and to Chris Alexander and Crown Royal for supporting the Purple Bag Project, which transforms the brand’s iconic purple bags into care packages for soldiers and veterans as a reminder of our nation’s gratitude.

Finally, to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, thank you for the sacrifice and dedication you show in service to our country.

International Women’s Day traces its roots back to the early 20th century, emerging from labor movements in North America and Europe that called for fair wages, better working conditions, and the right for women to vote. By 1911, more than a million people across several European countries marked the first International Women’s Day, and in 1977 the United Nations officially recognized March 8th as a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

It was wonderful to celebrate this important day alongside leaders from the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce.

The event featured a panel titled “Power of Presence: Crafting a Brand People Trust,” where speakers shared practical insights on building credibility through clear messaging, confident presence, and consistent follow-through.

Thank you to Jeanna Bamburg and The Woman's Hospital of Texas for sponsoring this event and for their commitment to celebrating and advancing women in our community.

I’m proud to serve as a member of the Armed Forces Appreciation Day Committee led by Chairman Kimberly Lewis.

"Armed Forces Appreciation Day", is held as part of RODEOHOUSTON, honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. Each year, the parade brings the Houston community together to recognize both active-duty service members and veterans.

This year’s Grand Marshal was U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Ruskan, who was recognized for extraordinary heroism after executing multiple high-risk rescue operations during the Independence Day flash floods in the Texas Hill Country, helping save 165 children from raging floodwaters.

Thank you to the active service members and veterans whose bravery and dedication continue to protect and serve our country.

Assistance League of Houston hosted its "2026 Books & Brunch" in support of its long-standing mission to improve the lives of children and families in our community since 1966.

As an all-volunteer nonprofit, Assistance League of Houston removes barriers to education for at-risk and disadvantaged students through locally funded programs designed to meet Houston’s evolving needs. "Books & Brunch" directly supports these initiatives while also providing a platform for local authors to present their work. This year’s featured authors were Sylvia Casares and Tobey Blanton Forney.

Thank you to George Connelly for the invitation to be part of an event that continues to invest in education, literacy, and long-term opportunity for Houston’s youth.

The families we serve are at the heart of everything we do.

We are grateful for the trust placed in us during times that require patience, care, and understanding.

Sharing a kind reflection from a family we’ve had the honor of supporting.
