In this week’s podcast episode, we dive into the hot topic of protein sparing modified fasting (PSMF) and why short, strategic “3-day sprints” can be a powerful metabolic reset. I share how I’ve been using these brief hypocaloric phases to help accelerate body fat loss while supporting anti-inflammatory processes and increasing autophagy, the body’s natural cellular cleanup system.

By using this exact approach, I was able to successfully lose 18 pounds and just seven weeks well most importantly, retaining lean body mass and improving metabolic function along with mental health.

The literature consistently shows that most diets fail long term, with weight regain common within five years, and often much sooner with more aggressive interventions like GLP-1 medications or surgical approaches. In this conversation we explore who may benefit from protein sparing fasts, who should avoid them, where supplements fit in and how to implement this strategy. We also discuss research on autophagy.

Check out my top supplements to support your PSMF as you swipe along with a my fitness pal snapshot of how this all comes together 💪

Questions? Post them below let’s have an empowering conversation!

GLP-1 Receptor agonists drugs have surged with roughly 1 in 8 adults (about 30 million Americans) using these injectables. From Ozempic to Wegovy to Mounjaro to Zepbound these “miracle shots” are now being offered to people for moderate weight loss and the FDA has approved for ages 8+. But how do they work? Are there side effects to consider? Are there natural safer alternatives?

As your body increases GLP-1 naturally through these dietary and supplement approaches you will experience less cravings and improved blood sugar stability along with favorable body composition shift. Also we will see glucose, insulin, and leptin levels regulate which supports metabolism and mental health.
The weekly injections stimulate GLP-1 at higher levels and stay in the body longer than the natural production and metabolites you’d get with my food-as-medicine approach. When we constantly suppress appetite and delay gastric emptying we can see severe side effects.
Using a food-as-medicine approach allows for appetite regulation without suppression; this is a BIG difference because a will to eat is correlated with a will to live. I want you to learn through our time together which foods honor and serve your body and make you feel empowered to eat in balance. I work with you to use whole real foods to make amazing flavorful dishes, I help you redefine your relationship with food, not pull food out of the equation.

Are ADHD and autism purely genetic and neurological, or could oxidative stress be a missing piece of the puzzle? In this podcast episode, we unpack the growing conversation around how excessive oxidative burden and low antioxidant status may influence brain chemistry, behavior, and symptom expression. We explore how modern inputs like environmental exposures, dietary patterns, metabolic stress, and toxin load can contribute to neurological inflammation and why looking upstream at root drivers can shift how we approach support strategies.

In this week’s podcast episode we break down what actually helps lower oxidative stress in practical, sustainable ways, from stabilizing blood sugar and prioritizing protein to increasing antioxidant-rich produce and targeted nutrient support. This conversation connects the dots between physiology and daily habits, giving you tangible tools to support neurological resilience, mood regulation, and cognitive function using food-as-medicine.

Have you ever heard of inositol? Could you be deficient and not even realize it? If you’re struggling with blood sugar swings, irregular cycles, anxiety, or 2am wake-ups, could this overlooked compound be a missing piece? While magnesium, B vitamins, and electrolytes dominate most wellness conversations, myo-inositol plays a critical role in insulin signaling, ovarian function, and neurotransmitter balance, acting as an intracellular messenger that helps your cells properly respond to hormonal cues.

Everyone’s talking about Magnesium…nobody’s talking about myoinositol. But this week on the Naturally Nourished Podcast we do a deep dive on how this nutrient if deficient can wreck havoc on your health.

This episode unpacks what myo-inositol actually is, how it functions in the body, and what the research shows in areas like PCOS, insulin resistance, fertility, mood disorders, and sleep. It also covers therapeutic dosing, food sources, and how to use supplementation strategically for clinical outcomes. Whether you’re navigating hormone imbalance, metabolic dysfunction, or nervous system dysregulation, this conversation takes a deeper look at why myo-inositol deserves far more attention in root-cause medicine.

As we are still in our celebration of our reformulation of Relax and Regulate you can save 15% for a couple more days. Upgrade your magnesium for 3 products in one with magnesium, myoinositol, and glycine in an effective dosage per scoop. Swipe to see updates and use RELAX15 to save.

A lot more on this to come….but let’s start a conversation ⬇️

It comes down to working with the body and serving to understand and address its needs or to override its processes. I’m concerned with the amount of bro science and influencers pushing peptides and peptide stacks.

By definition I have zero concerns with peptides, groupings of amino acids with targeted effects, this includes collagen, creatine, and even glutathione. But when you are moving from nutrients that your body is familiar with that actually replete deficiency taken orally, to a synthetic injectable compound….I’m highly concerned we’ve missed the mark in wellness and are moving into chasing over-riding the natural perfect design of the human body and pushing for demigod status 😬.

Okay I’ll go here is my 2016! The year of Stella and hustle hard for freedom.

1. I self published my first book, Naturally Nourished, and got 2000 copies shipped to my house.

2. I launched a second website, AliMillerRD.com which is now my primary website. Here is Byron shooting a website navigation trailer.

3. I taught a ton of food-as-medicine cooking classes at and in my office.

4. Very pregnant me selling Naturally Nourished and my Grassfed whey at with

5. Stella was born in an emergency c-section when my midwife incorrectly told me she was LOA and in fact she was a frank breech…at 41 weeks fluid was so low couldn’t flip her. Ooof that hit my ego with my water home birth plans crushed. But she was here! I have a blog on “my natural c-section” including vaginal seeding.

6. 41 weeks in 2 weeks out. I made poor postpartum choices of hustle culture and concerns that I needed to make sure my business didn’t fail without me.

7. Bliss mama mode! Fell deeply in love with Stella and loved breastfeeding.

8. 6 weeks postpartum book signing and lecture (I do not recommend this).

9. Always cooking food-as-medicine recipes at home now often wearing or holding Stella. Yes I’ve also been a Deadhead….well since 2001 🌹💀

10. Back to weekly TV segments at 7 weeks postpartum and full time back to running my clinic and business 🫠.

11. I got my cookbook into and this was my first delivery!

12. I started using social media and making my mantras and phrases into typographic images.

13. We made a lot of bone broth and Brady would sell these quarts to my patients in clinic.

14. TV segments outside of Fox and some out of state this one on my Beat the Bloat cleanse.

15. More food-as-medicine cooking classes. I really think I did like 15-20 that year!

16. Created my version of the Food pyramid.

17. Sharing the efficacy and impact of Calm and Clear! I was now up to 15 or so supplement products in my line.

18. Moved to Austin from Houston to “slow down” but then signed my first book deal within months…yet feeling more free liberated from my brick and mortar clinic now fully virtual!
