Be still my heart! A sweet kiddo came into our session with so many questions and thoughts regarding Fall. “How do the leaves know when to change?, Why don’t we have colorful leaves in Texas?, Are the leaves sad leaving their home?”
My heart was bursting with joy because I truly love Fall. I gave some simple responses at first then got us back on track after showing the child a few pictures I had of a Nashville Fall. Their heart just needed more information and the “L” sound took a back seat in today’s speech session.
One of the big takeaways from our very deep conversation about Fall was, just like the 4 seasons, our life has seasons too. Fall is a great reminder that in life we go through changes and moments of reflection. This is a great time to take things we’ve learned and store them in safe spot (kinda like a tree trunk) and then get rid of the things we are ready to “let go” of. We took turns sharing things we “holding on to” and things we are “letting go of”. I had no idea I was going to get into such a deep conversation with this first grader today, but I’m so thankful for the questions, curiosity, humble reminders, and honestly in their answers.
So friends, it’s a season to hold on to the things we are proud of and love and let go of the things that aren’t serving us anymore. Fall is here and it’s a beautiful season! I’m so thankful for these incredible clients and that these are the discussions I get to have some days.
&& of course, I left them with a few L words as a send off (leaf, leaves, fall, let go) 😉
What are you holding on to or letting go of?
