Whew… let’s talk about it.
As a Black woman, I’m tired of feeling policed or monitored simply for showing up as my full, authentic self. Navigating spaces where your identity makes others uncomfortable is exhausting — and honestly, it’s a real issue that shows up in therapy every single week.

If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired… and venting to coworkers, your partner, or anybody who will listen just isn’t bringing the relief or growth you need — it may be time for a different kind of support.

This is the work I do. This is the space I hold.

I currently accept Aetna and Cigna and have evening and weekend availability 🙌🏾

This is a very vulnerable post and may not be for everyone. This is the realest video I have ever posted but, I had to get this out.

Healing others while learning to pour back into myself.
Mom to a busy 4-year-old boy.
Therapist walking with teens through some of their hardest seasons.
Social worker serving families in intensive outpatient care.
Preacher’s wife growing deeper in faith.
And in the middle of all of that… still learning that my healing, rest, and self-care matter too.
Because you can’t keep pouring from an empty cup.
If you’re ready to start choosing you and doing the work to heal, I’m here when you’re ready. 🤍

When you don’t believe you’re worthy, you tolerate disrespect, inconsistency, and emotional crumbs.
Healing isn’t about finding better people.
It’s about believing you deserve better love.
And that work? Starts within.
Therapy helps you unlearn survival love and choose healthy love. 💛
Jess B. Authentic Therapy is accepting new clients.

Church hurt is real—especially in the Black community. When harm happens in a space that was meant to be sacred, it doesn’t just affect faith, it affects identity, trust, and mental health. Ignoring it doesn’t make us stronger; it makes us silent. Healing starts when we name the pain, grieve what was lost, and separate God from human harm. Faith can still exist—and be healthier—after honesty and healing. 🖤

Y’all please stop ducking and dodging your therapy sessions just because it’s the holidays. Did you forget your family can drive you up a wall? 😂

I love walking with y’all through the chaos, but listen… help me help you help me help you, sis/bro. There is NOTHING wrong with having a game plan before that one messy auntie or cousin tries you at dinner.

Protect your peace. Show up to your session. Call your therapist 🙄✨

Kindness isn’t new to us — it’s been woven into our culture for generations.
From the neighbor who checked on your mama when times got hard, to the auntie who always had a hug (and a plate), to the Sunday dinners that fed more than just our stomachs — they fed our spirits.

World Kindness Day is a reminder that our way of loving each other out loud is resistance, healing, and legacy.

Let’s keep passing that same love forward — one smile, one check-in, one act of grace at a time. 💛

Black men, you can rest.
You can cry.
You can heal.
No shame in that. 💪🏾

A little vulnerability and authenticity go a long way. I’m still doing the work—growing, healing, and striving to be better every day, just like you. 💛

They say “don’t meet your heroes”—but I had the privilege of meeting someone who inspires me at the “Dear Mama” Black Maternal Mental Health Fair. I met , a phenomenal woman who continues to inspire me to grow not only as a social worker, but also to walk confidently in my calling as a woman of color. Yes, I had a whole STAN moment 😅 but, I believe God places people in our path as reminders of His purpose for us. Representation matters, and I’m grateful for the example she sets and the light she carries✨️. I can’t wait for the opportunity to work together in the future.💖
