March 27th: HAPPY THEATER DAY
"All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players." – William Shakespeare
I started my Theater Journey at the age of 7. Although I feel even after 50+ years doing theater and performing on stage. I am still a beginner. Every time I enter on the stage to perform, I am jittery and my nervousness takes over. But after a minute or so you think this is your space and you are king and entire stage is your kingdom.
As an actor and director your job is to transport audiences to different worlds and tell compelling stories. Theater is an ephemeral, living organism; film is not. Theater, as we say about life, ‘You had to be there.’… You get better as an actor doing theater.” Performing on the stage is thrilling experience. Arguably every actor who does stage can do film, but that not every actor who does film can do stage. Your audience teaches you how to perform…and that’s not what happens on film. In film, scenes are typically shot out of sequence and edited together to create a seamless narrative. This means that actors have the opportunity to re-take scenes and refine their performances until they are perfect.
Theater, on the other hand, is a live performance, which means that actors have only one chance to get everything right. The live element of theater adds an extra layer of excitement and anticipation for both the performer and the audience.
Thank you all my co-stars, actors, cast, crew, musicians, technicians, and my directors for the wonderful opportunity to perform on the stage.
