✨ Staff Highlight! ✨

We’d like to give a special shoutout to Amber Lotsi, who recently earned her CME certificate for the BHC-CC program. In November, she also became an LCSW-S, allowing her to provide supervision for other social workers across Texas. This is an exciting advantage for Santa Maria, as it supports our ability to hire more master-level clinicians and strengthen career development within our team.

Congrats, Amber!

We’re proud to see that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’s expanded Special Beginnings initiative is investing another $2 million in community-based maternal and infant health programs across Texas — including Santa Maria Hostel’s ‘Caring for Two’ program supporting moms and babies. The initiative has now served over 120,000 Texans with nearly 650,000 services delivered — helping bring thousands of healthy babies into the world and supporting families statewide. 💙

Excited to share that Santa Maria Hostel had a table at the Power Tools for Nonprofits Conference — we loved the opportunity to introduce who we are, what we do, and how we serve our community. It was an honor to connect with fellow nonprofit professionals, share our mission, and explore ways to collaborate and grow stronger together. 💙✨

Since the 1950s, Santa Maria has been dedicated to supporting and empowering Houston’s most vulnerable families to break the cycle of addiction and build lives rooted in recovery and stability. Your gift helps us provide critical treatment, housing, and supportive services that restore families and place them on the path toward long-term success. Through your generosity, thousands of women and their family members will experience hope, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose.

“Recovery helped me rebuild a fractured relationship with myself. It taught me that I’m worthy of love, friendship, healing, and boundaries, not because I’m perfect, but because I’m human… It has given me my family back.”

Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not about erasing the past, but about transforming it into strength, calm, and new beginnings. We celebrate Lora’s courage and the unimaginable possibilities. Recovery opens the door to love, healing, connection, and the strength to create a future full of joy and purpose.

Thank you for helping us fulfill our mission to empower women and their families to lead healthy, successful, productive, and self-fulfilling lives. We are honored to have your partnership in this vital work.

We had the opportunity to partner with our Psych NP Interns from UTHealth for an insightful presentation on Self-Harm. The session focused on recognition, response, and supportive strategies that directly benefit our direct care team. Our direct care staff, leads, and one of our trauma therapists attended and engaged in meaningful discussion.

This partnership, which began in early 2025, has continued to strengthen our behavioral health support as the Psych NP Interns provide initial assessments and triage assistance for our residential team.

The Stylistics Teen Group of the Humble-Kingwood Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. proudly hosted a clothing and toiletry drive to benefit the families of the Santa Maria Hostel.

In addition, the teens spread a little Halloween cheer by creating treat bags for the children residing at the facility.

We are proud of the teens for embodying the spirit of service, compassion, and leadership!
