Happy Halloween from the SFY Team! At Speak for Yourself, LLC, we love focusing on core words — the small but powerful words that make up about 80% of what we say every day!

Using core words helps AAC users:
✅ Communicate for different reasons (requesting, commenting, protesting)
✅ Build longer phrases and sentences
✅ Gain independence and confidence

Tip for families: Choose 1–2 core words each week to model during daily routines!
Example:
• During snack time: “Want more?” 🍎
• During play: “Go car!” 🚗
• During cleanup: “Help me!” 🧹

Every modeled word is a step toward stronger communication!
