Houston Health Foundation The Houston Health Foundation creates private-public partnerships for sustainable health and wellness

Our programming provides oral health care through Project Saving Smiles, vision screening, and eyewear through See to Succeed, access to fresh produce and nutrition education with our community gardens program as well as STD screenings at our Hip-Hop for HIV concerts. We also play a key role in ensuring families receive the support services they need to create safe and healthy environments for children to live in through our AIM initiative.

Saturdays are Sweet! Thank you to our mighty volunteers who helped us harvest 54 pounds of sweet potatoes. 🍠

The produce will bring the flavor of fall to our neighborhood senior center and area community pantries. It’s absolutely amazing what abundance a few small potato slips from Urban Harvest can yield.

Thank you everyone who contributes to this nurturing space!

Thank you FBISD (.isd) for ensuring that students who need glasses are identified and scheduled to attend the mission. It takes all of us working together. Your partnership is the first critical step in ensuring students have what they need to succeed in school and life.

A big shout out to AccessHealth () for taking the lead in Fort Bend County and to the George Foundation and the Fort Bend Community Church for supporting this broad community effort!

👓✨ For years, aramco has been an outstanding champion of the Houston Health Foundation and the See to Succeed program — helping bring vision care to children who need it most.
Since the program’s inception, See to Succeed has cared for over 122,000 students, giving them free eye exams and glasses, made possible in part due to Aramco’s unwavering support. 🎒📚

We're deeply grateful for this partnership and excited to continue working together to build brilliant futures — one child at a time. 💙

It’s National Vision Awareness Month, and the Houston Health Foundation encourages you to pay attention to your children’s eye health and ensure they receive regular eye examinations. Focused eyes focus the mind.

The American Optometric Association recommends:

• Infants should receive an in-person comprehensive eye and vision assessment between 6 and 12 months of age for the prevention and/or early diagnosis and treatment of sight-threatening eye conditions and to evaluate visual development.

• Preschoolers should receive at least one in-person, comprehensive eye exam between the ages of 3 and 5 to prevent or diagnose any condition that may have long-term effects.

• School-aged children (T to 4G years) should receive a comprehensive in-person exam prior to entering the first grade and annually thereafter.
