Houston Health Foundation The Houston Health Foundation creates private-public partnerships for sustainable health and wellness

Our programming provides oral health care through Project Saving Smiles, vision screening, and eyewear through See to Succeed, access to fresh produce and nutrition education with our community gardens program as well as STD screenings at our Hip-Hop for HIV concerts. We also play a key role in ensuring families receive the support services they need to create safe and healthy environments for children to live in through our AIM initiative.

The Houston Health Foundation is continuously grateful for supporters like our Visionary Partner, aramco. ✨ 👓 ✨

Last fall, Aramco assisted a new partnership between See to Succeed and the Houston Public Library Foundation, creating the STS Reading Room - where students can take home a free book after their eye exams. The initiative included a donation of 500 books, reinforcing the connection between healthy vision and lifelong learning. Many thanks to Aramco and the Houston Public Library Foundation!

Today we’re celebrating World Oral Health Day! Oral health matters for everyone and young children are no exception. Project Saving Smiles partners with area elementary schools and early learning centers to help children start life with good oral health habits. Through free dental screenings, sealants, fluoride varnish, and oral health education, we are combating tooth decay and helping children to avoid more serious dental problems that may affect their overall health, confidence and learning.

The Houston Health Foundation is grateful to announce our 2026 Champion of Health Honoree: Dr. Julie A. Boom

Dr. A. Julie Boom, a Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and Director of the Immunization Project at Texas Children’s Hospital, is a nationally recognized pediatrician and vaccine researcher. She has led numerous CDC-funded surveillance and immunization initiatives and co-authored “Vaccine Preventable Disease: The Forgotten Story,” advancing public health education nationwide.
